Looking back in early days of the provincial re-establishment (1997), Binh Duong provincial industry sector has really created a spectacular breakthrough, becoming one of provinces and cities gaining the highest growth in the country. The local industrial density increased from 45.5% in 1996 to 62.2% in 2011. The result is suitable to local orientation of economic structure.
Notably, Binh Duong has focused on mobilizing all sources to perfect local industrial parks’ infrastructure facility in combination with rural urbanization and industrialization. Therefore, the entire province has thus far had 28 IPs with the total area of over 9,000ha, 24 of which are in operation.
In Thuan An town, Vietnam-Singapore IP 1 (VISIP 1) has attracted more than 220 international investors with the total registered capital of nearly US$2bil. Next to VISIP 1 is Dong An IP 1, absorbing 120 local and foreign businesses with the total investment capital of over $300mil and over VND2,5tril.
Meanwhile, Song Than IPs in Di An town have reached good efficiency of investment attraction. In Ben Cat district, My Phuoc IP 1,2,3,4 and Bau Bang IP invested by Becamex IDC have attracted nearly 400 foreign projects, capitalized at about $3bil. In addition, Viet Huong IP 2 with the area of 250ha invested by Viet Huong JSC has absorbed 35 foreign projects worth $330mil. Adjoining Viet Huong IP 2 is An Tay and Rach Bap IPs have promised many prospects.
In Tan Uyen district, Dat Cuoc IP founded in 2007 by Binh Duong Construction and Minerals Company has lured 27 local and foreign projects with the total capital of VND704bil and $54mil. Meanwhile, the 330ha Nam Tan Uyen IP has attracted 45 local and foreign projects, capitalized at over VND2tril and about $90mil.
The industrial parks are the embodiment of Binh Duong provincial industry sector. Specifically, these IPs have absorbed as many as 1,128 foreign projects, accounting for 55% in project quantity and 58% in investment capital.
The success is thanks to great efforts from local authorities and hi-unity from people. The locality has upheld general strength from local authorities and residents to promote its advantages for the sake of industrial development.
In 2011, despite disadvantages of economic recession, Binh Duong won an industrial export value of over VND123tril, a 17.8% increase. The local industrial development has created rapid changes on all areas and spurred urbanization process and brought a prosperous life for local residents.
Overall, the provincial party committee and people have over 15 years promoted hi-unity and effort for the goal of rich people and strong country. With the great achievements, Binh Duong can be proud of a strong and sustainable production industry. This is a key foundation for the locality to rise up a new height in the coming time.
