Helping farmers get more information
The Project of “Widely multiplying a model of places getting access to sci-tech information via internet for rural socio-economic development in some communes of Ben Cat, Tan Uyen, Thuan An towns, Bau Bang, North Tan Uyen districts and TDM city” implemented by provincial Center for Informatics, Science and Technology Information has helped farmers easily approach sci-tech advancements.
According to Tran Trong Tuyen, Director of provincial Center for Informatics, Science and Technology Information, the objectives of the project are to help farmers grasp new sci-tech information for better results in agricultural production while quickly knowing information about market for farm products in order to have orientations in line with market’s planning and demand.
The project has been implemented since 2011 and so far upheld its efficiency. Under the project, the local farmers have opportunely got access to new knowledge and applied them into production for better results.
Huynh Van Muon residing in Dong quarter’s Vinh Phu ward in Thuan An town has successfully developed a model of breeding rabbits with the origin of Newzealand under new methods. The result has come from his efforts in getting assess to new sci-tech information via internet.
The farmer has also used internet to seek models in line with his family’s production conditions. Upon this, he has bravely developed a combined animal husbandry model with rabbits, fish and chickens, bringing hi-economic efficiency.
Towards sustainable agricultural development
Apart from seeking sci-tech information and production models via internet, many farmers in the province have made efforts in innovation for sci-tech application in tune with the local agricultural production conditions.
Le Hoang Chau, the owner of an orchard in Bau Bang district’s Tru Van Tho commune is a typical example for the above mentioned thing. Thanks to approaching new sci-tech information via internet, he has effectively innovated his automobile irrigation system and well applied general measures against pestilent insects…All have helped his products become better and they have been purchased at orchard by merchants, including those from the northern region.
Together with attending trade fairs, many local farmers have also introduced their products on websites to expand their consumption market. Possibly speaking, the application of sci-tech advancements on plants and animals through information technology models over the past time has helped the local farmers step by step stabilize and reached a lot of results in economic development, thereby contributing to shifting the local agricultural structure towards hi-tech and urban agricultural models.
