Under the attention of Farmers Associations at all levels, farmers in Phu Giao district have constantly helped each other overcome difficulties, rise up out of poverty and legitimately get rich, contributing to reshaping the local rural image.

As an agricultural locality, Phu
Giao has a lot of competitive advantages in the process of modern agricultural
development with the birth of general farmsteads, bringing high economic efficiency,
according to the district’s Farmers Association Chairman Bui Van Quen.

To uphold its strong points, the district’s Farmers Association has regularly teamed up with sectors and mass organizations to make dissemination of information about the Party and State’s policies and laws pertaining to agriculture, rural development and farmers. This has aimed to bring into play the local farmers’ vanguard role in promoting new production models, thereby creating an animated emulation impetus in production and business among them.
The district’s Farmers Association also coordinated with the local functional agencies to consider and disburse more than VND61bln in loan from many different sources for 4,505 members to develop home based business over the past years.
Of these, the association worked with Vietnam Bank for Social Policy’s Phu Giao branch to consider and disburse more than VND48bln for 2,934 farming households; disbursed VND4.39bln from the local farmer support fund for 258 farming households.
The association also linked with companies to sold agricultural materials under deferred payment for the local farmers; mobilized well-off farming households to offer support on loan, agricultural materials…valued at more than VND8.6bln to 1,313 poor ones.
In addition, the association joined hands with the local functional agencies to organize 135 training courses on sci-tech transfer in agricultural production for more than 8,790 farmers and 32 seminars and 6 visits to effective production models.
The association also held 26 Integrated Pest Management (IPM) points on vegetables-crops, rubber and pepper; coordinated with relevant agencies to organize 111 tentative points on intensive farming techniques for pepper, garden chicken breeding, super-lean pig breeding; opened 24 vocational training classes for 636 rural laborers and demobees; introduced stable jobs to 236 rural laborers…
Exemplary role-models in production and business
As of late 2013, the whole district had 207 out of 526 farming households to rise up out of poverty. Many farmers became exemplary role-models in the emulation movement of “Good farmers in production and business” with the annual income of billions of dong.
More importantly, their production models affirmed the district’s strong points in the process of modern agricultural development. All these exemplary role-models contributed to improving the local agriculture, rural development and farmers over the past years.
Upholding their advantages, farmers in Phu Giao district over time constantly helped each other rise up out of the poverty and legitimately get rich. With achievements done, farmers herein have so far affirmed their role in agricultural production, contributing to reshaping the rural image of Phu Giao.
