Over the past years, farmers in Thuan An city in general and in An Son new-style rural commune in particular tried to make emulation in production, helping each other in economic development and enriching themselves legitimately. Many farmers have so far became typical examples in the movement of “Good farmer in production and business” at all levels.
Vo Thi Cam Ha, Chairwoman of An Son communal Farmers ‘Association said that since early this year, the association has launched the registration of the “good farmer in production and business” title among farming households and there have been all 232 farming households registering for the title. In 2019 alone, the whole association had all 232 farming households registering for the title and there were 190 winning the “good farmer” title at all levels at year end.

Tran Van Chinh in An Quoi hamlet is very joyful with his orchard laden with fruits
Tran Van Vien residing in An Son commune’s Phu Hung hamlet is one of farmers who has won the “good farmer in production-business” title at provincial level. Currently, he is the owner of a mangosteen orchard of around 40,000 square meters under VietGap standards with the “Lai Thieu mangosteen” trademark. His orchard also includes many other fruit trees like “To nu” jacqkfruit, green-skin pomelo…with the annual revenue of more than VND500million, generating seasonal jobs for rural laborers with the daily income of VND300,000 per person. Noticeably, he regularly gets involved in the local social charity activities.
Or, Tran Van Chinh is also an outstanding farmer residing in An Quoi hamlet. He used to be a good farmer at central level. In recent years, he has always won the title of “good farmer” at city level. He now has a mangosteen orchard of 15,000 square meters. Apart from mangosteen, his orchard comprises of many other fruit trees like mango, coconut…with the annual revenue of around VND200million. He also regularly shares experience in tending crop plants with other farmers to develop together.
So far, farmers in An Son commune have upheld the local advantages in land for developing and enhancing fruit tree productivity. The local Farmers ‘Association and government have also given support in terms of capital, sci-tech and fertilizer for farmers to foster their orchards. There have been 702 farming households registering to get support in fertilizer in 2020 with a total area of more than 194 hectares. In 2019 alone, the association provided 702 farming households with nearly VND980million from the city’s support resource to tend their orchards.
The emulation movement of “good farmer in production-business” in An Son commune has actually created a motivation for the local farmers to learn experience in production and uphold strong points of Lai Thieu orchards, thereby helping improve their income, getting rich on their homeland.
