Thanks to local farmers, Phu Giao district has over years upheld its available advantages and potentials. Phu Giao’s laborious farmers have greatly contributed to the local development.Talking about farmer Nguyen Quang Tren, everyone considers him as a typical example. Born in a poor family, he has an extraordinary energy. With bare hands, he has managed to build a carpenter's shop. Initially, he opened a rice husking mill and involved in animal husbandry. And after that he kept investing in planting rubber trees. As a result, he has so far had an over 12ha rubber plantation, placing jobs for 16 local laborers with an average income of VND2.4mil per capita per month. Annually, he reaps more than VND250mil in profit.
The district has over years emerged farmer millionaires. The district Farmers’ Society chairman Bui Van Quen, said the movement of good farmers in production and business initiated by the district has won positive response from local farmers, helping uphold local strength and making up effective models of production and business.
For the district, farmers are an important manpower source, contributing to local development. They are pioneers in applying advanced techniques into production.
For example, farmer Luong Van Song in Phuoc Hoa commune, farmer Phung Van Thuc in Tam Lap commune, farmer Tran Van Bien in Phuoc Sang commune and so on are typical examples in production and business. They are dynamic and creative farmers, building effective farmstead models with high economic value.
Not only good at production, Phu Giao farmers help each other to make wealth. Over the past 5 years, local farmers have contributed over VND11bil to assist more than 11,000 poor farmers. This shows that farmer force has helped decrease poor households, increase rich ones and change local rural image.
