
Binh Duong’s agricultural economy has created a breakthrough development.
Returning wars-hit land of yore, many people can not witness marks of wars 40 years ago. Binh Duong’s farmstead economy has developed rapidly and strongly with thousands of billionaires.
Farmer billionaires
Visiting Long Nguyen, Bau Bang district, one of localities considered as “capital” of general economic farmstead in Binh Duong. Along to 2 sides of roads are immense rubber plantations. Long Nguyen now becomes “kingdom” of rubber tree, bringing high economic values. Behind these immense rubber plantations are chicken farms, bringing income worth billions of dong per year.
Long Nguyen-based people know about Nguyen Thanh Thuy who possesses 13 ha of green-skin grapefruit, creating a high income per year. In addition, Long Nguyen has an advantage of animal husbandry with more than 102 pig, chicken farms.
Since 1990s, Long Nguyen people have seen economic efficiency of breeding chicken, so they have bravely invested billions of dong in farms and material facilities to develop the model. As such, chicken farms herein have made up income worth billions of dong every year for local breeders.
Meanwhile, other communes such as Hieu Liem, Tan Dinh of North Tan Uyen district, the hub of Đ war-zone of yore, now emerge numerous rich farmers enjoying great income from orchards with the total area of 1,248ha.
Now, North Tan Uyen forms up central production areas of orchards such as orange, grapefruit and more. At present, North Tan Uyen district has well implemented programs and projects of agricultural production, models of tech-science transfer and prepared for carrying out project of building and managing collective brand name of “ Hieu Liem – North Tan Uyen orange, grapefruit”.
According to the provincial department of Agriculture and Rural Development, implementing supportive policy for local farmsteads, since 2012 the department has approved and transferred investment funds for 8 projects of developing specialty orchards and simultaneously supported to build and promote farm produce consumption, projects of developing urban agriculture and citrus orchards and more.
In addition, the department in cooperation with relevant agencies instructs 2 poultry breeding facilities, 3 orchards in line with VietGAP standard with the total expense of more than VND94bn. These deeds contribute to lift the number of farmsteads certified VietGAP standard up to 16 farms, including 9 cultivation farms and 6 breeding ones.
Sustainable ways
Nguyen Tan Binh, director of the provincial department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in 2015 the department maps out launching project of developing urban agriculture in the Southern region of Binh Duong as well as increasing cultivation and breeding on advanced technology in the Northern region, simultaneously building models of production and processing farm products. The department will cooperate with relevant agencies to urge enterprises and individuals for investing and transferring advanced models in farmsteads.
Reportedly, Binh Duong now has about 347 cooperation teams with 5,944 members. These teams mainly support capital, transfer tech-science into production in a bid to place jobs and improve income for local farmers.
Possibly speaking, Binh Duong is an exemplary locality in agricultural development in the new period, aside from industrial growth.
