Binh Duong province has now nearly 900,000 employees including nearly 60% of female workers. They have constantly promoted their role in all fields, taken numerous initiatives to meet development requirements of enterprises. However, female workers still need to sympathy to fulfill their tasks and build up happy families.
Contribute zealously
Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan, worker of Fujikura Fiber Optics VN Company (VSIP I), is a adventurous worker taking more than 200 initiatives to help the company, colleagues at work. Due to useful initiatives, Ms. Xuan was honored as one of eight workers in VSIP and received certificate of merit “Good Labor – Creative Labor” conferred by PPC in 2013. Her most outstanding initiative was the improvement of cutting hinges of materials used to hold the cable in the signal transmission.
Without high qualifications, due to her industriousness and willing to learn, Ms. Phan Thi Thu Van became vice chief being in charge of warehouse of Vietnam TNT Fibers Company (Thuan An town). To build up trust from Board of Directors and colleagues, she has put her effort in work, taken initiatives to improve works. She was awarded certificate of merit of excellent worker by PPC in 2014.

Ms. Van said: "To be successful, do not just waiting for lucks, we must try harder. After work, I do not rest immediately, but stay at workplace to search for new better methods. Then I can convey my experiences to colleagues and my company”.
Ms. Van and Ms. Xuan are only a small number of numerous examples of female workers overcoming difficulties. Although they are migrant workers, these women have confirmed their position. Besides work, they are wives, mothers, who have to take care of their family.
Ms. Huynh Thi Thuy An, a worker of Binh Duong Cerie Garment Company (Thuan An town), said, as a woman, no matter how excellent she was at work, she must also fulfill the role as wife and mother. Woman is the person that preserves happiness, thus a woman must be sensible to seize love from her husband and children.
Need sympathy
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Lang from provincial Department of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs, compared with male workers, female workers are under a lot of pressure of working time and rest, because in addition to ensuring working hours, they have to spend a lot of time to take care of family. This affects their leisure time. Thus, there are some laws and decrees proposed by the Government to take care of and share difficulties of female workers.
Implementing Decree No. 23 / CP dated 18-4-1996 of the Government, provincial enterprises have private bathrooms for women, private baths for women, periodic health examination, taking a rest of 60 minutes/day when having baby under 12 months of age, and 30 minutes/day during menstruation. Some companies have provided childcare to female workers, such as: Hai My Company, Shyang Hung Cheng Company, Yazaki EDS Company…
Shyang Hung Cheng Company’s Trade Union Chairman Nguyen Minh Hoang affirmed, the employment of many female workers had advantages to company, because they were very diligent, dexterous, and complied well with regulations. The company has over 70% of female workers, thus set up health care programs and incentives so that female workers can work zealously.
However, the implementation of Decree No. 23 still has encountered difficulties. Therefore, Department of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs suggested review and adjustment to policies to female workers; awarded enterprises performing well policies to female workers.
Additionally, the government needs to encourage businesses to build up kindergartens, accommodation, recreation areas for workers in industrial zones; simplify procedures of tax exemption for enterprises employing majority female workers.
