Final part: Breakthroughs made by science and technologies

Binh Duong provincial authority has been determined to keep on making breakthroughs to position the Smart City Project on a higher level of development by assigning Becamex IDC the key projects on the development of innovation zones of the public science industrial park focus in a bid to create new destinations for investors and new generation citizens.

The available projects of industrial parks, science and technologies are expected to play the direction role of attraction of investments and high quality human resources to promote sustainable development

Towards a comprehensive ecosystem

The project of science and technology industrial park in Bau Bang district actively developed by Becamex IDC is one of the key projects under the Smart City Project, showing the close cooperation of Binh Duong and World Technopolis Association (WTA), model learning of Daejeon City (from Korea), Eindhoven (from Netherlands), Singapore and many other cities in the world. The science and technology industrial park was built to attract corporations of small and medium enterprises and startups in key manufacturing industries of highly added value in line with the current stage from now on. At the same time, the research and development area is planned for experimenting on science and technology, connecting institutes, schools and enterprises domestically and internationally with an aim to become a training center to attract technical human resources and technology transfer researches.

According to Dr. Nguyen Viet Long, Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Science and Technology, the investments into the construction of a science and technology industrial park aim to promote the development of the northern region of Binh Duong while manufacturing in industries with highly added value, focusing on science and technology researchs and development, training human resources, and building a good living environment for experts, engineers, and scientists. In 2020, together with strategic partners from the Netherlands, South Korea and Singapore, Becamex IDC completed research on science and technology industrial park development strategy and preliminary approval of master plan of the park. Becamex IDC worked with partners to report the project to the provincial in October 2020.

Economic development pushing power

Located in the Southern Key Economic Zone, Binh Duong is becoming one of the top provinces in attracting investments into industrial zones. Currently, Binh Duong has 29 industrial parks on a total area of over 12,670 hectares; occupancy rate has been over 70%. In attracting investments, Binh Duong provincial authority aims to attract high-tech science and technology professions that could bring about high surplus value. The scientific and technological industrial park that the provincial authority is oriented to is to develop the Smart City project in such goal. In addition, for sustainable development, Binh Duong provincial authority always orients infrastructure integration to Ho Chi Minh city and other provinces and cities in the region.

Playing an important role in the economic, cultural and social development of the province, a series of transportation routes linking with the science and technology industrial park have been invested into under a comprehensive and fulfilled manner of traffic major routes and system. National Highway 13 is quite convenient when it is adjacent to two important traffic axes connecting Ho Chi Minh city - an important gateway for trade between the Southeast and the Central Highlands. My Phuoc - Tan Van directly connects the science and technology industrial park with Ho Chi Minh city and surrounding areas. These vital transport routes at the same time create links to industrial zones and head towards river ports and seaports of the Southern key economic region that could be helpful to create an interconnected logistics supply chain for importation and exportation, increasing competitiveness for businesses in such industrial parks.

Along with that, the "one-stop-shop" rule and the utilities serving the needs of businesses are always focused to satisfy the maximum needs for customs, telecommunications, high speed internet connection, logistics center, central Medical centers, banks, restaurants, hotels, and renewable energy sources etc. are also carefully prepared to meet the needs of all businesses entering the science and technology industrial park.

The project of science and technology industrial park is expected to play a key role in converting existing industrial parks into smart industrial parks that step by step helps Binh Duong have a solid foundation of science while new production tools based on science and technology are created and mastered in preparation for new challenges and opportunities in the digital age - the era of the 4th industry revolution. Mai Hung Dung, Standing Member of Binh Duong provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of Binh Duong provincial People's Committee, said that the science and technology industrial park is a breakthrough in industrial production. The infrastructure is the foundation for the formation of the system and the innovative eco-innovation works to attract investments of highly added value and create a premise for high-tech production. In addition to promoting research and knowledge transfers, the science and technology industrial park plays a pioneering role in building a new product model for Binh Duong and lift current industrial ecosystem to higher level. New means of production are launch to both serve the industries of highly added value products by focusing on scientific research and development and gradually increasing the proportion of the digital economy in the economic structure of the province. The science and technology industrial park will be the driving force of the province's economic development in the coming time as it contributes to the development of the province.
