Firm steps forward to sustainable development

Upholding the revolutionary tradition with sharp thinking, strategic vision, and breakthrough policies of the CPV and local authorities throughout different stages after 25 years of development, Di An city has achieved numerous successes in the economic and social fields to become a bright spot in attracting investment and industrial development of the province.

Strong emergence

After 25 years of construction and development, Di An today has completely transformed, with a completely different appearance compared to decades ago. Ms. Nguyen Thi Dien, former Chairman of the People's Committee of Di An district (now Di An city), said that in order for Di An city to develop strongly today, the previous generations of leaders, officials, and people had to make a lot of effort and strive.

In 1999, Di An district was reestablished and separated from Thuận An district; at that time, everything was very difficult, from people to material facilities. However, local leaders set immediate and long-term goals, specific and clear solutions to build and develop the locality, requiring competent and dedicated officials.

In the early period of reestablishment, besides the existing workforce, local leaders also sought and mobilized talented individuals to join the authorities; at the same time, they had to attract and invite businesses to settle in. At that time in the context of limited resources, local authorities prioritized the construction of roads and infrastructure before building office headquarters.

With the efforts of the leadership, officials, and people, from a purely agricultural district, with no infrastructure, now Di An city is on par with major urban areas in the region. Di An city has undergone a complete transformation, with numerous industrial zones, an upgraded and expanded infrastructure system, and especially newly renovated and expanded transportation routes. Notably, the province's investment attraction policy has helped create the first industrial parks of Vietnam in the early period of opening up such as Binh Duong, Song Than, Thai Binh Shoes Factory Cluster.

Along with that, Di An city deploys the synchronization of the Project of the Public Administration Service Center of the city to connect the one-stop section of the wards, ensuring 100% reception, resolution, result delivery, and public announcement of administrative procedures according to regulations, improving the level of providing public services from level 3, 4 to the whole process; maintaining the rate of administrative files resolved on time reaching 99% or higher.

This has contributed to transforming Dĩ An from an agricultural area into a pioneering industrial development locality of the province; accelerating the process of economic restructuring towards industrialization and modernization.

New outfit

After 25 years of construction and development, Di An City has quickly developed and achieved many important achievements. The economy has grown at a high rate, with a reasonable shift in structure, increasing the proportion of industry and services and reducing the proportion of agriculture. Compared to the time of re-establishing the district in 1999, in 2023, the total value of industrial production in Di An has increased nearly 70 times.

Specifically, the value of industrial production in 1999 reached 2,038.8 trillion VND, which then in 2023 reached 140,043 trillion VND; the number of industrial parks increased threefold, from 2 to 6; the total budget revenue increased 171 times, with domestic revenue in 2023 reaching approximately 8,100 trillion VND (in 1999 it reached 47.3 trillion VND).

In accordance with the Binh Duong Province urban development program, the general urban planning of Di An city until 2030 has been officially approved by the competent authority. Di An city is defined as a "service-education-industry urban area, a university urban center, a regional transportation hub, in which the industry is oriented towards the development of high technology applications".

Along with that, despite the rapid urbanization and the limited land fund, Di An still allocates land for planning, building schools, healthcare facilities, cultural amenities to serve the spiritual life of the people such as community cultural and educational centers, stadiums, parks, organizing religious activities, healthy entertainment etc. to improve the quality of people's lives and bring a new modern urban appearance to Di An city.

In the field of healthcare, from 6 healthcare facilities when the district was reestablished in 1999, to 2023, Di An city has had 19 public and private healthcare facilities. The number of hospital beds has increased more than 20 times; in 1999, there were only 6 facilities and 30 beds; in 2023, there are 19 facilities and 626 beds; 100% of the ward health stations in Di An city have doctors providing healthcare for the people.

Mr. Vo Van Hong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Di An city, said that by promoting the advantages, the Party, and the local government have taken advantage of the opportunities and conditions provided by the province, the support of the people and businesses, Di An city has combined the state budget with mobilizing social resources to participate in local development.

Having the starting point as a purely agricultural district, the local CPV committees, the authorities, and the people of Di An city have united and made determined efforts to build Di An into a civilized and modern urban area. With a solid industrial and urban foundation, Di An city is steadily advancing and shifting its economic development priorities towards trade and services, especially high-quality services, striving to achieve the criteria of a first-class urban area by 2025.
