To service the demands for flowers during upcoming Tet Holiday, the flower gardens and sellers are boosting up final stages to provide for the market the best flowers. Many merchants have sought out flower gardens to place their orders to delight many farmers who are looking forward to better Tet Holiday.

In Binh Duong Province, many farmers are concentrating on short-term plants of daisy, woolflowers, sun-flower, air plants, etc. In 2014, the chill weather in the final months of the year has affected blossom of some plants; however, thanks to cultivation experience and strict processing, it is expected that farmers can provide blossom flowers to the market in Tet Holiday.

Flower garden of Mr. Tran Van Bi at Thanh Tuyen Commune of Dau Tieng District is carefully maintained to deliver to the market. His 600 pots of sun-flower, 700 pots of woolflower, 800 pots of air plants, and over 1,000 pots of ochna integerrima are on good growth. Bi said that those pot were to be supplied to merchants from Ho Chi Minh City and market places in Binh Duong Province coming right at his place. Asked about prices, Bi said: “My customers and merchants usually come to my place to have a look on the plants before deciding to buy; thus, we are blindfolded of the prices and consumption power. Meantime, the materials and fertilizers have cost me more than previous years. This make us bear the loss if the prices stay put. I foresee that this year’s flower prices should be a little bit higher.”

On many streets of Thu Dau Mot City, flowers and ornamental plants are displayed in all sorts and sizes to service customer demands.
The sellers not only make use of local supply but also trade with farmers in Mekong Delta to boost the supply. A representative of Mai Hung Establishment in Thuan An Town said: “We have brought in various types of ornamental plants and flowers from Mekong Delta and Go Vap of Ho Chi Minh City. The prices vary from VND 30,000 to 5 million depending on pricing policies of garden owners. For my experience, the higher prices are for plants of good blossom at the right moment of the season.”
For this year, the ornamental plant renting is very popular as many gardeners are focusing on ochna integerrima for rent instead of for sales. The renters are various from enterprises to offices, banks, companies, and hotels. Mrs. Dung, a ochna integerrima garden owner in Thu Dau Mot City, talked about her services of offering ochna integerrima for rent by 40% of the selling price for 10 to 15 days.
