Building the foundation for a smart city
Binh Duong smart city is an innovative, dynamic, connected ecosystem in which all elements are constantly innovating, continuously improving and optimizing. If we look at another perspective, Binh Duong is close to an approach called smart community, promoting the dynamism and creativity of the community, not just focusing on the urban or technological issues that we often meet.
Over the past 2 years, Binh Duong has attracted the participation of agencies, departments, businesses and students, creating innovative innovation breakthroughs in building smart cities. Understanding the needs of Binh Duong in the new development trend of building a smart city, besides the main task of teaching and research, Eastern International University (EIU) has actively pioneered in the model. "Three houses" right from the conceptual stage. Accordingly, EIU is responsible for creating an entrepreneurial ecosystem in itself, which deserves to be a core element in a larger entrepreneurial ecosystem, within the Binh Duong province and the region.
In order to achieve the above goal, EIU has focused and implemented many important programs over the years, including training of trainers, bringing the subject of "Starting a business" into training programs with the goal of providing knowledge and training, encouraging, creating conditions to arouse and build entrepreneurship for students. EIU also invested in building an environment for innovative innovation start-up spaces such as Business Incubators (Incubators), technology labs (TechLab), manufacturing labs (FabLab), and lighting laboratories (LightingLab), practical laboratories of creative ideas (Living Lab). These facilities have been expanded to serve the faculty and students of the school, everyone in need, connecting with each other in the field of start-up and solving the problems of smart city of Binh Duong.
After the consultation period, under the direction of the provincial People's Committee, Becamex IDC Corporation and investors have researched and designed the project of Becamex City Center trade center - roundabout service. This central area has a land area of about 71,000m2, which will be a focal space for traffic, functional works and space for community activities. Becamex IDC and the provincial People's Committee are also planning projects on transportation in connection with logistics and supply chain to attract investors to do business in Binh Duong.
In addition, to help people access to a smart urban lifestyle, Binh Duong has implemented many practical policies to improve and develop the bus system. The results of these policies are that the public passenger transport system by bus in the province has formed, the network has covered a wide area, easy access, and better service quality. improved and the number of bus passengers continued to increase.

Actively create a breakthrough
With the determination to build Binh Duong to become a smart city, along with focusing on economic development, Binh Duong has always been interested in innovating, strengthening cooperation and proactively creating breakthroughs in each field. Specifically. The provincial People's Committee and Becamex IDC have signed a cooperation agreement with major domestic and international partners with capacity as well as experience in implementing smart city construction, such as Brainport Group (Netherlands), NTT EAST Group (Japan), VNPT Group ... This signing contributes to bring basic advantages for the province in implementing the Smart City Project as well as joining the World Technopolis Association (WTA).
October 2016, Binh Duong was officially voted as one of 21 cities and regions with the smart smart city development strategy of the world in 2019 by ICF. Binh Duong is also the first locality in Vietnam to officially become a member of ICF, helping to establish strong international relations with the smart community in the world to exchange information, experience and collection. attracted many talents to work in Binh Duong.
In 2018, Binh Duong province had many bright spots when it continuously hosted many successful events and activities at home and abroad. Among these highlights are two major international events: the World Technopolis Association of Scientific (WTA) and Horasis. These are international events with the participation of many mayors and principals of prestigious universities in the world and Asian enterprises; is a good opportunity to promote Binh Duong brand with international partners and friends. Especially, Binh Duong is officially become a permanent member of WTA.
After more than 2 years of implementing the Smart City Project, Binh Duong has achieved very important results. Accordingly, the province has basically completed the stage of building the foundation, strategic orientation, implementing breakthrough projects, thereby creating favorable conditions for the implementation of specific projects, soon bringing Binh Duong to Become a smart city in the near future.
