Suitable model
Although experiencing many different jobs, Nguyen Van Thich has felt that the growing of orchids is the most suitable job to him. His passion to this job is very great.
In 2002, he got
involve in the chicken-breeding model. At that time, he spent a lot of time,
efforts and money on breeding around 2,000 chickens, but he failed to develop
the model. He also realized that breeding chickens in residential areas did not
ensure environmental hygiene. Hence, he become discouraged and neglected all
farm doings.

But, his passion to farm doings urged him to seek a business model that must be suitable to his age and bring his family high income. And he realized that the growing of orchids was the most suitable model to him. With his high determination, he decided to borrow additional VND100mln in bank loan plus his savings of VND30mln to promote the model.
Despite hardship, he has made efforts to achieve current success from the orchid-growing model. According to him, practical experience is the key to the success of the model.
Growing of orchids is enrichment
Nguyen Van Thich realized that he was able to get rich from the growing of orchids only after over one year of getting involved in the model. He grew around 1,500 orchid trees on a 600sq.m area in the first year of developing the model. And he begin reaching benefits from the model after two-year development.
According to him, the growing of orchids is appropriate to the elderly. Tending orchids also helps them get healthier. For orchids booming in accordance with growers’ expectation, growers need to know about the development features of this kind of flower in each period. Passion is the key to the success of the model. Besides, the use of fertilizer and pesticide in a proper and effective way is one of important elements leading to the success of the model.
Nguyen Van Thich is now the owner of a garden of 6,000 orchid trees, 2,500 of which are under harvest with the average monthly income of VND10mln. Noticeably, he has found a stable consumption market for this kind of flowers in HCM city. He is also very enthusiastic in guiding others about how to grow and tend orchids for the success for this kind of flower.
