Good control of poultry and cattle business

Veterinary staff check animal transport vehicles at Vinh Phu station.

After the Lunar New Year 2015, demand on food declines significantly but work on food safety and hygiene, especially pork and beef and poultry meat are always paid much attention by functional agencies. The provincial veterinary bureau steered veterinary stations to hold inspections at slaughtering houses and transport of cattle and poultry.

Serious settlement of violations

On these days, the number of cattle and poultry offered for the market declines significantly compared with the Lunar New Year 2015. Moreover, this is the time of breaking epidemic diseases on cattle and poultry, so breeders are very careful to increase herds of cattle and poultry and actively prevent diseases.

Since the start of this year, the work on cattle and poultry slaughtering across localities has been maintained well. Most of cattle and poultry are offered certificates of vaccination and quarantine. This helps to well control epidemic diseases and protect consumers’ health.

Nguyen Van Tuan, head of Vinh Phu animal quarantine station said that the station always assigns staff around the clock to carry seriously out regulations of animal quarantine. The process of quarantine is publicized. The unit over the last 2 months implemented quarantine on more than 6,000 vehicles of transporting animals.

Spurring inspections of veterinary hygiene

In February, the delegation of the provincial veterinary bureau in cooperation with veterinary stations of districts, towns carried out 216 inspections on animal, animal products, veterinary drug, animal’s food and more.

Besides, the delegation checked food at markets and prevented epidemic diseases at breeding farms. Through the inspections, the delegation found out 41 violations, fined 22 cases, destroyed 456 poultry, over 100kg of meat and more.

In addition, the provincial veterinary bureau mapped out plans to hold month for sterilization hygiene in line with instruction of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The bureau also implemented sterilization and hygiene at breeding farms after vaccinations to improve efficiency of epidemic disease control.

Besides, relevant units also inspected breeding facilities, slaughtering houses in a bid to ensure quality of animal products on the market.

Nguyen Van Dong, vice head of the provincial veterinary bureau said that the unit set up an inspection delegation. As planned, the delegation will launch inspections of animal slaughtering and trade across localities.

In the coming time, to well control epidemic diseases  on cattle and poultry as well as quality of animal products in the province, the unit will spur veterinary hygiene and inspection at slaughtering houses, meat shops and markets.
