To actively control and regulate the price of goods at year-end, all levels and sectors in the province have implemented many measures to stabilize prices, market. Binh Duong Newspaper had an interview with Mr. Ho Van Binh, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Industry and Trade, about this issue.
- Could you please tell us about the work of stabilizing prices, and market in the province in recent time?
- In 2016, 12 enterprises have taken part in market stabilization with sales revenue before, during and after Lunar New Year (from Nov 18th 2015 to Mar 31st 2016) of VND639.120 billion, exceeding 18.5% the plan. In addition to sales at supermarkets, businesses involved in this program, such as Dong Hung - Aeon Company, Saigon - Binh Duong Trading Service Company, EB Binh Duong Company, Lotte Mart Company, organized more than 40 sessions of mobile sales during the last Lunar New Year in different localities of the province.
Besides, Department of Trade and Industry in collaboration with provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and People's Committee of districts, towns and city in the province organized 10 market-days to bring Vietnamese products to rural areas in the province, such as Dau Tieng, Phu Giao, Ben Cat, North Tan Uyen... Every market-day had about 20 businesses with 45-50 booths / market-day, contributing to stabilize the market.

In general, the coordination between concerned departments, People's Committees, and businesses for the goods reserving plan under market stabilization program 2016 has gained good results. The parties actively updated themselves on market prices, early reserved goods to supply timely and prevent virtual price fever. Thus, in 2016, price of essential commodities in the province has been relatively stable, contributing to inflation control and better serve the people’s shopping needs.
- Sir, implementing of the price stabilizing plan during Lunar New Year 2017, how do enterprises participating in the program reserve goods for Tet holidays?
- The essential items serving the people in 2017, including food, processed foods, fresh foods, such as rice, sugar, cooking oil, monosodium glutamate, sauce, beef, poultry, soft drinks, confectioneries, usual medicines... with a total value of VND1,343 billion. In it, before, during and after Tet 2017 is VND610.8 billion (excluding petrol, medicines), with 11 participating companies.
As expected, the number of cattle and poultry supplied to the local market, such as: 4,427buffalos, beefs or 885 ton of meat; 79,276 pigs or 7,135 ton of meat; 688,000 poultry or 1,003 ton of meat; nearly 20.458 million poultry eggs. Regarding petroleum products, the province assigned 2 petroleum companies, Thanh Le Import and Export Company and Song Be Petroleum Company to supply fully the entire gas system in the province with an expected 10-12% increase compared to the same period in 2016.
Regarding medicines, provincial Department of Health directed hospital pharmacies to stabilize conventional medicines (medicines produced domestically), while selling stabilize medicines at health centers of communes, wards and towns with a retail price stipulated by the health sector and hanging banners with slogan of "selling medicines of price stabilization" at drug stores in the province.
- Goods speculation, hoarding, excessive price increases; acts of smuggling, trade frauds, counterfeits ... how has the department instructed Market Control Branch to control these issues, sir?
- Department of Trade and Industry directed Market Control Branch to strengthen inspection and control of the market, especially before, during and after Lunar New Year 2017 to prevent and strictly handle storage, transport and trading of smuggled goods, prohibited goods, production and sales of counterfeit goods, intellectual property infringements, shoddy goods, commercial frauds and violations of food safety. The Department asked Market Control Branch to examine coordinate the compliance with laws on prices, measurement, goods labeling, price listing... to prevent goods speculation, hoarding, unreasonably price increases, ensure market stability.
The department also asked Market Control Branch to inspect essential goods, especially food safety at markets, supermarkets, businesses of frozen foods, food selling and producing facilities in the province; examine goods measure, announce goods quality of wholesale and retail establishments to detect fraudulent tricks of price and measurement. Besides, Market Control Branch should perform well the market inspection, supervision of stabilization selling locations, fairs of the program "Bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas" to prevent and timely handle violations.
