Government supports proposals, adjustments regarding power generation capacity of localities

On the afternoon of August 14, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha chaired a nationwide online conference on the issuance of additional and updated plans for the implementation of the National Power Development Plan for the period of 2021-2023, with a vision to 2050 (Power Plan VIII) in Hanoi. Nguyen Van Danh, Chairman of Binh Duong provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Vice Chairman of provincial People's Committee, presided over the conference in the province.

At the conference, the Government’s Inspectorate and the Ministry of Industry and Trade provided information on projects that have been found to be in violation and requested relevant localities to monitor and expedite inspection results under regulations...

Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hang Ha emphasized that projects under investigation should not be included in Power Plan VIII. For projects that have been concluded by the Government Inspectorate, adjustments must be made under the inspection's conclusions. For the 154 solar power projects included in Power Plan VII, the Government will request the Ministry of Public Security to promptly clarify issues to address difficulties for projects that can continue under the plan.

As for wind power projects, localities need to provide explanatory reports for consideration and resolution under regulations. Regarding solar energy, self-consumption energy, biomass energy, small hydropower and waste-to-energy projects proposed by localities, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha stated that the Government strongly supports proposals and adjustments regarding localities’ power generation capacity. Therefore, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will be requested to review and supplement these projects in the near future to include them in Power Plan VIII, creating favorable conditions for localities, businesses and investors to develop production from renewable and clean energy sources...
