Grapefruit has been used as gifts or offering products on altar on Tet festival. Grasping the rising demand, many grapefruit growers have positively prepared all conditions to increase productivity of grapefruit gardens and they have considered Tet festival as a main crop in the year.
However, it is difficult to produce grapefruits with delicious taste and eye catching form. In order to gain a successful grapefruit crop, it requires grapefruit growers to spend much dedication, labor and investment.
Visiting grapefruit farms in Tan Uyen district and Ben Cat district, every one will witness busy ambience herein. To gain eye catching grapefruits for Tet holiday, grapefruit growers must spend much labor and investment in fertilizer, knowledge effectively and exactly. Nguyen Thanh Thuy, the owner of grapefruit farmstead in Long Nguyen commune, Ben Cat district shared that on Tet festival, if meeting advantage on price, grapefruit growers will enjoy a high income.
At present, price of grapefruit is at VND50,000 per kg, higher than the previous season’s price. If this price level is maintained till Tet holiday, grapefruit growers will enjoy a big triumph. According to Thuy, to prepare for Tet season, right from lunar April, grapefruit growers must use methods to help grapefruit gardens blossom. Thuy added that she would launch about 90-100 tons of grapefruit for Tet season of this year.
After over 5 years of planting grapefruit, Doan Minh Chien in Tan Dinh commune, Tan Uyen district has gained the VietGAP certificate for his 2ha grapefruit farm. His grapefruit farm has been applied methods to produce eye catching grapefruits for the upcoming Tet season.
He shared “Despite shortage of experience, I think that I will enjoy a fair income from the coming Tet grapefruit season. I want to spread my VietGap grapefruit farm to every one”.
As a grapefruit grower with many years of experience with the fame of grapefruit planting, Le Van Xe in Hieu Liem commune, Tan Uyen district must spend his all experience to make the best products. He shared “Growing grapefruit for Tet season requires much labor. My products mainly appear across the Northern provinces – the fastidious market – but I have never failed so far”.
In the recent years, grapefruit price on Tet holiday often brings high income for growers. Until now, weather is very advantaged for farmers, so they are looking forward to enjoy a successful grapefruit crop.
