Green product usage needs cooperation from many sides

To promulgate usage of green products to customers and encourage businesses and customers take charge of living environment, some local units have held a program of using green products.

Limitation of nylon bags

The provincial department of Environment and Natural Resources, said about 600-700 tons of garbage are collected and treated at Nam Binh Duong waste treatment area per day. On manual method, only about 3 tons of nylon garbage are classified per day. Without proper measures to minimize usage of nylon bags, living environment will be affected seriously.

It takes several centuries for nylon bags to disintegrate. Nylon bags’ existence will impact seriously on soil and water and cause soil erosion.

Unusualness of using friendly bags

Co.opMart Binh Duong Vo Huu Thach director, said after a year of using environmentally friendly bags, efficiency is very modest, owing to nylon bags’ convenience.

The local department in cooperation with Co.opMart Binh Duong has implemented a program themed “Green consumption” 2011 with many lively activities and promotional programs. Through the program, the department will freely offer 4,000 paper bags free of charge for shoppers at the supermarkets.

Meanwhile, VietA Bank has launched a program themed “For you, for community”. Accordingly, the bank will grant ecological bags to its clients. Bui Trung Dung, vice general director of the bank, said “we want to join forces with to raise awareness on environmental protection from smallest deeds. I believe that every offered-ecological bag will help protect environment”.
