Advantages of high technology
As of the end of 2012, the province has 72 chicken raising facilities with 2,832,000 chickens in total (accounting for 61.36% of total provincial chicken herd). The breeding facilities have applied new advances of tech-science and state-of-the-art equipment.
Aside from the hi-tech chicken farms, the entire province has had 40 pig breeding workshops equipped with automatic and semi-automatic technology facilities and waste treatment systems. The total pig herd at the hi-tech models is at 120,135 pigs, accounting for 22.52% from the total herd of the province.
The provincial advantage of hi-tech breeding industry lies in decreasing 10-15% of food from ordinary farms, minimizing disease epidemics in poultry and cattle, shrinking time of breeding and so on. Regarding hi-tech application into breeding industry, Pham Thanh Hung, vice director of Ba Huan Co.Ltd. the investor of a hi-tech poultry farm at Vinh Tan commune, Tan Uyen district, said technology is one basic requirements bringing high efficiency for animal husbandry.
At present, the company’s hi-tech poultry farm has been equipped with modern facilities. All of eggs have been treated at factory before launching onto the market, so the company’s products have ensured food hygiene and safety.
Asked why Ba Huan Co.Ltd choose Binh Duong province for its investment, Hung, said “We choose Binh Duong for our investment with the following reasons. The locality has many advantages of breeding development, incentive policies of local administration and transport”.
Shortcomings needed to improve
Though hi-tech breeding has brought remarkable results, hi-tech breeding farms have also encountered difficulties such as poor quality equipments, disease epidemics, limited land funds, price hike of labor and so on.
In addition, hi-tech breeding is a new field, so it requires skilled human resources to transfer technology science to farmers and businesses.
In order to further develop local hi-tech breeding area, the provincial Veterinary Bureau vice head Nguyen Van Dong, said it is necessary to eye large scale breeding models with closely linkage between production, purchase, processing, preservation and consumption. Additionally, it is essential to set up and enhance efficiency of breeding associations and societies.
As for functional agencies, it is necessary to steer and manage breeding development as planned and to pay attention to train human resources…
With the basic premises and mentioned shortcomings, the local hi-tech breeding sector will have new development in the future.
