This year, Vietnam Rubber Group delegated the right to host the Excellent rubber tapping workers contest to Phuoc Hoa Rubber Company in Binh Duong province. This will be an opportunity to honor and encourage persons to stay with and enhance rubber trees.
Meaningful activities
Accordingly, the competition will take place from 12th to 15th December 2014 with participation of 39 delegations, including delegations from companies under Vietnam Rubber Group located in Laos and Cambodia. The number of contestants will be 222, including 188 official contestants and 34 reserve contestants.
The competition will comprise parts, such as: repairing rubber trees at Tan Hung Rubber Plantation, theory test at the Cultural Center of Phuoc Hoa Rubber Company, tools competition… The most interesting part may be the competition of rubber tapping to show skills of workers in latex harvesting.
A contestant took the practice test at the Excellent rubber tapping worker contest organized by Phuoc Hoa Rubber Company.
Especially, on 14th Dec, more than 100 carriages decorated by contestants will parade from The Mira Hotel in TDM City to Tan Hung Rubber Plantation. This will be an important team competing category and a chance to popularize images, encourage persons being side by side with rubber trees.
Vietnam Rubber Group’s Deputy General Director cum Head of organizer committee Le Minh Chau said: “After so many years, Binh Duong province was chosen to host the competition, because the province has a large area of rubber trees. Despite current difficulties, Dau Tieng Rubber Company, Phuoc Hoa Rubber Company, and Binh Duong Rubber Company have brought annually hundreds billion VND of profit and created jobs for more than 30,000 labours. Enthusiastic workers, excellent production in here will be a good example for other member companies through this competition”.
Developing firmly along with rubber trees
In this year, latex price has fallen down by 45% compared to year 2011. Thus many member companies have encountered difficulties. Meanwhile, investments in different industries of Vietnam Rubber Group have not yielded profits yet.
Nevertheless, the group has still organized meaningful activities to encourage workers and to celebrate the 85th traditional day of the rubber industry. Some remarkable activities were: knowledge contest of 85 traditional years of Vietnamese rubber industry, sport day for officials, giving scholarships and inaugurating dormitories for children of officials, honoring 117 typical families of rubber workers…
The Excellent rubber tapping worker contest is a large event involving many sectors, organizations, and individuals. Therefore, Vietnam Rubber Group had a meeting with provincial leaders to ask for provincial assistance, like: instructions, encouragement to plantations’ owners, mass media support, social security and healthcare assistance…
Provincial Party Standing Committee’s Member cum People’s Committee’s Vice Chairman Tran Thanh Liem stressed, Binh Duong province is one origins of Vietnamese rubber industry. At the present, rubber tree is still the flagship crop of provincial agriculture, affecting socioeconomic development of rural areas. Therefore, the province will make every effort to support Vietnam Rubber Group to organize successfully this competition.
