Development of urban area and economy and improvement of income and population increase have created rising demand on housing.

This is also a big challenge for local authority. Realizing this importance, Binh Duong has always focused on solving housing for local people and considered it as a crucial task during the local process of socio-economic development.
Meeting local people’s demand
According to Phan Cao Phuc, head of housing management and real estate market division under the provincial Construction Department, demand on housing in Binh Duong province is very huge. As of Aug. 1, 2014, about 68,000 public servants, armed forces, 800,000 workers and low incomers are in need of housing. In addition, people with demand on social houses at urban areas accounted for approximate 100,00, residents with especially difficult circumstances for more than 2,000, revolutionary contributors for over 1,000, students and pupils for over 12,000. According to a forecast, population in Binh Duong urban areas will reach about 2.5mil till 2020, and around 3.5mil by 2030.
In the face of demand on housing, Binh Duong has over the past time implemented many measures of improving accommodation and meeting housing demand for low incomers, students, revolutionary contributors and workers.
In reality, most of workers and students from the other localities working and learning in Binh Duong have encountered difficulties of housing. Therefore, demand on accommodation for workforce is very huge. Grasping this demand, many enterprises have built houses for workers, students. In addition, many houses have invested in building lodging houses for workers and students and contributed greatly to developing housing in the province.
Tran Thi Suong, the owner of lodging house in Huynh Van Luy street, Phu Loi ward, Thu Dau Mot city said that she has involved in renting lodging houses for nearly 10 years. “Proprietors like me enjoy preferential policies from local administration to effective operate boarding house business. Plus, local authority instructs us to carry out the State’s regulations on order security, environmental hygiene, fire and explosion prevention and fighting”, she added.
People living in Hoa Loi social housing area in Hoa Loi ward, Ben Cat town said that they are very happy to live in this social house area. Apartments herein are not only open but suitable to laborers’ income. They have to spend VND1mil per month for a 30sqm apartment within 10 years.
At the 13rd session of the provincial People’s Council, term VIII, the action plan on housing development program till 2020 and orientation till 2030 was ratified by the provincial People’s Committee. Nguyen Thanh Tai, director of the local Construction Department stressed that this program would solve demand on accommodation for public servants, laborers and students and more. Along with urban rejuvenation and development, growth of housing will contribute to stimulate production, real estate market and among others.
Making up development of socio-economy
According to the provincial Construction Department, the total area of housing in this province reaches more than 41.5mil sqm, 33.5mil of which are for urban housing and about 8mil sqm for rural housing.
The provincial program of housing development till 2020 and orientation till 2030 is very essential, not only solving housing demand for people but making up a driving force for local socio-economic development.
According to Nguyen Thanh Tai, planning on sectoral development is related closely to housing development. The provincial People’s Committee ratified planning on developing service industry, infrastructure system, especially main traffic works connecting Btinh Duong province with the Southeastern provinces and cities in the Southern key economic zone.
Accordingly, population and structure of workforce are reallocated on the large scope, impacting directly on planning on land usage and urban area as well as facilitating urban and rural development in general and distinctive industry development in particular.
Furthermore, the provincial People’s Committee has steered launching on accommodation planning and building of infrastructure facility to create new image for urban areas in Binh Duong province.
