Fast-growing industry in TDM city and Thuan An, Di An, Ben Cat towns has made the local urban image change strongly. This has contributed to building up a more modern and civilized Binh Duong city.
Great urban investment
Since being re-established in 1997, along with industrial development, Binh Duong has boosted investment in residential and urban areas in association with synchronous investment in terms of socio-technical infrastructure. Together with this, the local market, trade center and supermarket system has been expanded; there has also been a robust growth for post-telecommunications, finance-banking, information technology, electricity, water supply sectors…

Binh Duong during the 1997-2000 period upgraded more than 142 km of main streets, namely DT743, DT747, DT751…Especially, upgrading Highway 13 created a breakthrough in promoting and enhancing the quality of the local urbanization process. The project was carried out from 2001 to 2005 with a total investment capital of VND684.1bln.
For better development, Binh Duong decided to build an industrial-service and urban complex in 2004. Capitalized at VND3trillion, the project covers 4,196 hectares, mainly in 5 communes of Tan Uyen, Ben Cat and TDM. Many new and modern urban areas also loomed large across the province during the period. TDM city saw the birth of residential estates, namely Chanh My, Phu Hoa I, II, Hiep Thanh III…
Di An town has also attached special importance to urban planning. Le Van Hoang, Chairman of the town’s People’s Committee said that since 1999, many industrial parks and compounds, namely Song Than I, Binh Duong, Tan Dong Hiep…have been built in the town. The town’s trade-service sectors have also got thriving. In addition, residential estates, trade centers and supermarkets have been formed up around industrial parks, contributing to reshaping the local urban image.

Synchronous urban system
In the 2010-2015 tenure, provincial Party Committee has built up the Program No.19-Ctr/TU dated July 20, 2011 on Binh Duong’s urban development in the 2011-2015 period and vision till 2020. Its goal is that after 2015, Binh Duong’s socio-technical infrastructure can meet criteria of a first-class city and Binh Duong will become one of centrally-controlled municipalities by 2020.
After three years of implementing the Program, the province’s situation in terms of socio-technical infrastructure has been improved. Nguyen Thanh Tai, Director of provincial Department of Construction said that Binh Duong over time built a synchronous urban system; fostered urban areas in association with infrastructure development…
Binh Duong also attached special importance to industrial-service development in association with urbanization process; built and put provincial Integrated Administration Center into operation. Some great trade-service projects like the Go Cat project, the AEON Binh Duong Canary Mall in Thuan An town…have also been built, contributing to forming up a modern and civilized Binh Duong city.
This year, Binh Duong will strive to have socio-technical infrastructure meeting criteria of a first-class city and it will become one of the centrally-controlled municipalities by 2020.
