Department of Natural Resources and Environment has just advised Binh Duong provincial People's Committee on a plan to consider and award the Binh Duong Environmental Award in 2021. The organization of the awarding ceremony is expected by the functional sector to contribute to raise awareness of the community and businesses on environmental protection; at the same time, recognizing and honoring individuals and groups that have made positive contributions to environmental protection activities over the past time.

The Environmental Award of Binh Duong Province is one of the meaningful activities contributing to spread the spirit of protecting and preserving the living environment. In addition to recognizing and honoring the contributions of individuals and groups in environmental protection activities, the award is also one of the meaningful action programs, demonstrating the common determination of the province in the direction of building constructions and develop the economy - society in the direction of green, clean, and sustainable.
Mr. Ngo Quang Su, Director of Department of Natural Resources and Environment, said that with the assigned tasks, the Department has submitted a report to the provincial People's Committee about spending VND 73 million from environmental cause funding for the Sub-Department of Environmental Protection in 2021 to reward individuals and collectives with excellent achievements in environmental protection activities in 2021. In which, the level of reward for individuals will be VND 3 million respectively and the rewarding amounts for collective rewards will be VND 5 million each. These rewards have great significance as the driving force to promote the spirit of enthusiasm, volunteerism and drastic actions among individuals and groups in environmental protection activities.
Binh Duong Environmental Award is held every 2 years and is valid for 4 years. The participation of the appraisal of all relevant departments of the province offered the most detailed and objective assessment of the contributions of individuals and groups in environmental protection activities. The award will be divided into 6 evaluation groups including state management of environmental protection, education - training, communication, consultation, advice, criticism, supervision, implementation of policies and laws on environmental protection, research and application of scientific and technical advances in the field of environmental protection, the prevention and minimized adverse impacts on the environment with troubleshoot of problems to treat pollution, restore and improve the environment, the protection and rational use of natural resources, the conservation of biodiversity and biosecurity, the implementation of green growth strategy to respond to climate change.
The pride of Binh Duong Green Book
Along with the Environmental Award, the provincial People's Committee will also announce the Green Book of Binh Duong province annually as evaluated by experts in the field of building and developing sustainable economic models to encourage, motivate and arouse the spirit and consciousness of environmental protection of enterprises. By the publication of information on the environment of enterprises, the province is also building a fair game for the business community where they can exercise their rights and obligations to supervise waste discharge activities of enterprises and step by step put pressure on enterprises to maintain good environmental conservation.
The Green Book of Binh Duong province also contributes to change the ideology of many generations of entrepreneurs and the business community. Specifically, domestic and foreign enterprises when coming to operate in Binh Duong are forced to comply with regulations on environmental protection according to the Law on Environmental Protection and documents prescribed by the provincial People's Committee on environmental protection activities in the province. The specific goal of the province when issuing and publishing the annual Green Book is to spread the message of the campaign to make the world cleaner that the United Nations has called for for many years. At the same time, it also helps the province promptly honor and reward enterprises that have made the best achievements in environmental protection.
An unnamed representative of Department of Natural Resources and Environment said that through the survey results and actual measurements at enterprises in 2020, the province has 73.1% of enterprises participating in the program that meet the set criteria. In which, some enterprises achieved quite high scores at over 90 points and classified as green ones. In particular, 36 enterprises scored over 100 points such as Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park Limited Liability Company (VSIP II), Vinasoy Binh Duong Soy Milk Factory, Showa Gloves Vietnam Co. Ltd and many more.
