Industrial manufacture associated with urban development
During the development process, Binh Duong has always taken industrial manufacture as a foundation for breakthrough, in which infrastructure construction for industrial parks in association with urbanization and industrialization is seen as a lever for growth. Upon this, the province is now home to 28 industrial parks and 8 industrial compounds with more than 10,000 hectares in total. The province has so far absorbed more than 18,000 domestic investment projects capitalized at VND136.506trillion and 2,440 FDI ones worth more than US$20.8bln.
In the face of the situation, the housing issue is very urgent, so the province has early zoned residential and urban areas adjacent to industrial parks. Many residential and urban areas have so far loomed large across Thuan An, Di An towns and Ben Cat district where industrial parks have been formed up, contributing to promoting the local urban infrastructure.
According to Mai Hung Dung, Director of provincial Department of Planning and Investment, the local model of industrial development to create a driving force for urban development and vice versa is strongly upholding its efficiency. This is also a basic and firm foundation for Binh Duong towards a green, civilized and modern city in the future.
Towards sustainable development
Bui Minh Tri, Deputy Head of provincial Industrial Parks Management Board said that industrial park development in association with urban development was applied by the province for the first time in zoning My Phuoc industrial park in association with zoning its residential and urban area in 2002. Two years later, My Phuoc industrial park became a bright spot in investment attraction and it was the premise for the birth of My Phuoc 2, 3 industrial-urban areas and many other industrial-urban areas.
From the above efficiency, Binh Duong has formed up an industry-service and urban complex of 4,196 hectares with 7 industrial parks zoned and a new city built with 1,000 hectares in total. This will be a civilized and modern city and also be a foundation for Binh Duong to become one of the centrally-controlled municipalities by 2020.
So far, the new city’s infrastructure facilities have been perfected. Especially, provincial Integrated Administration Center was put into operation. This is seen as the pinnacle of the effectiveness when industrial development is associated with urban development.
Possibly seeing, the development of province-based industrial parks has formed up a series of urban and residential areas in a harmonious way. This has helped Binh Duong build up a perfect socio-economic system, contributing to promoting the local industrialization and modernization speed in association with urbanization in a synchronous and sustainable way.
