According to Department of Statistics of the province, the index of industrial production (IIP) in February 2021 in the province decreased by 24.8% from January 2021 and 14.1% from the same period in 2020. The major reason was due to the impact of Covid-19 epidemic in February and the 2021 Lunar New Year holiday when businesses could only produce by 3/4 of the time compared to the average of the other months of the year.
In the first 2 months of 2021, the industrial production index accumulatively increased by 6% over the same period in 2020. In which, the mining and quarrying industries increased by 15%; processing and manufacturing by 5.66%; electricity production and distribution by 20%; and water supply, waste and wastewater treatment by 18.1%. The majority of manufacturing and production industries in the first 2 months of 2021 had increased IIP increase over the same period last year.
