Industrialization as a lever for development

Phu Giao is well-known as an agricultural locality with rubber plantations, orchid and mushroom models or An Thai hi-tech agricultural park. But now, the district is changing with industrialization as a lever for development.

Industrial manufacture is changing

Phu Giao district’s industrial manufacture now reaches robust growth. Noticeably, the steel radical tyre factory of Hung Hai Thinh Corporation is expected to be put into operation in early 2019 in the Tam Lap 1 industrial compound. Once being completed, this will be one of Southeast Asia’s top steel radical tyre factories, generating jobs for around 1,000 laborers. Its products are mainly exported to European and U.S markets.

The district’s industry-home industry between 2010 and 2015 gained positive changes in the right direction with the annual growth of 13.41%. In 2015, the whole district had a total of 473 industrial-home industrial production facilities with 2,835 laborers. The district also set the target of reaching strong industrialization via the local action program on “Industrial, home-industrial development for the period of 2016-2020”.

Accordingly, the set target of the district is to foster industrial manufacture to effectively tap the local advantages; promote socio-economic development, make the shift of economic structure, contributing to creating jobs for laborers. The district’s industrialization will be associated with promoting urban and service development. The district will also step by step make rural industrialization and modernization under hi-tech models, building up a new rural locality; strengthen investment attraction and industrial manufacture; strive to achieve basic changes in industrial manufacture, contributing to promoting the local agriculture and services.

Sustainable development

Since 2016, Phu Giao district has been very drastically in concretizing the local industrialization target. Accordingly, the district will build an industrial park in Tam Lap commune, absorbing hi-tech projects. For Vinh Hoa, Phuoc Hoa communes, the district will associate industrial development with urban and service development while attracting building material and mining industries. The district will also bend on fostering material areas for industrial manufacture in the remaining communes.

Thanks to having right orientations, the district has reached good results in investment attraction in recent years. The district has also attached special importance to building infrastructure facilities of industrial parks and compounds to absorb more investors as planned; actively called for investors making investment in industrial parks and compounds with priority given for hi-tech projects.

It is known that over the past time, the district also diversified economic sectors in industrial development while creating a favorable environment for industrial development. In addition, the district boosted industrialization, modernization and made the shift of rural labor structure in association with agricultural production, aiming to promote the local rural industrialization; strengthen production in association with material development, step by step switching careers and creating jobs for laborers.

Such these apart, the district attached special importance to fostering industries using on-site materials, especially processing ones; encouraged economic sectors to make investment in the rural field, generating jobs and increasing income for laborers; carried out preferential policies to absorb investment projects, thereby creating a motivation for the local industrial manufacture to foster.

The district’s industrial production value in the first nine months of 2018 was estimated at more than VND1.97trillion, up 13.24% compared to the same period last year or 67.18% of the year’s plan. So far, the whole district has had a total of 516 small and medium-sized industrial-home industrial production facilities, generating regular jobs for more than 3,000 laborers.

Doan Van Dong, Chairman of Phu Giao district’s People’s Committee said that the district’s policy on industrial and home-industrial development has till now obtained positive results, due to the great effort by the local administration. The district has also always created favorable conditions for investors to be able to work effectively…

Under provincial People’s Committee’s Decision No.47/QD-UBND dated January 12, 2015, Phu Giao district has a total of 5 industrial compounds (ICs) approved with 307.84 hectares. Among them, Tam Lap IC of 68.24 hectares is the first IC formed up herein. The IC has so far realized infrastructure facilities with a total cost estimated at VND360billion.

Four other ICs include Tam Lap 2; Vinh Hoa 1, 2 and Phuoc Hoa IC. In 2017 alone, the district asked for provincial People’s Committee to develop Tam Lap 2 IC of 75 hectares and a construction material making compound of 66.62 hectares in Phuoc Hoa commune. The district is also implementing the construction of an industrial compound of 500 hectares to serve investors’ demand.
