Recently, Binh Duong province has officially joined the World Technopolis Association (WTA). With 105 members from 47 countries around the world, WTA will support Binh Duong in terms of information, technology and human resources to accelerate the process of building smart city.

In recent years, Binh Duong province has strengthened its cooperation and exchanges with many areas in foreign countries and participated in many international activities to promote Binh Duong's dynamic and friendly image to all international friends. Besides focusing on economic development, Binh Duong has actively implemented the policy of building Binh Duong into a civilized, wealthy, beautiful, and sustainable city. Accordingly, the province cooperated with the Dutch Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, Becamex IDC and related organizations to organize many workshops, meetings on "smart city", a basic foundation for the planning and development of the province in the new situation, in line with the first phase of the 4th Industrial Revolution.

To realize Program No. 22-CTr / TU dated 15 Aug 2016 of Provincial Party Committee on "Urban development towards civilization, wealthiness and improvement of people’s life quality", Provincial People's Committee approved the project "Binh Duong Smart City". The province set up a Steering Committee, Advisory Council, Executive Board, Binh Duong Smart City Office, and co-hosted the workshop "Smart City – Triple Helix". Provincial leaders also received delegations from foreign countries to learn experiences as well as measures to support Binh Duong in building a smart city... All contributed to bring basic advantages for the province in implementing the project "Binh Duong Smart City" as well as joining the WTA.
The 11th session of WTA General Assembly, Hi-Tech Fair and Global Innovation Forum 2018 in Binh Duong is scheduled to be held in October -2018, covering the following topics: forums of WTA heads; WTA university principals; High-tech fair; Global innovation forum... Kang Byung Joo, Secretary General of WTA, said that Binh Duong had become a member of WTA. This was very important to the association. WTA will support many new ideas so that Binh Duong could soon become a smart city. In parallel, Binh Duong will be the host of big conferences, forums of the association to expand relations and learn experiences from other members.
"Since 2005, after Daejeon and Binh Duong established a friendly relation, two localities have cooperated with each other in many programs. I hope that Binh Duong province will host the WTA 2018 on occasion of the 20th WTA anniversary and will bring Binh Duong's image to all WTA members and also make Binh Duong a leader in building smart city in Southeast Asia. It also strengthens the cooperative relationship between Daejeon City and Binh Duong Province in building a smart city", said Kang Byung Joo.
To enhance the implementation of “Triple Helix"
Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony with WTA, Tran Thanh Liem, Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that the fact that Binh Duong became a member of the WTA, and the determination of building a smart city, will be the driving force, opportunity and important foundation for the province’s Party, government, people and business community to overcome all obstacles, join hands to build Binh Duong into a civilized and modern urban center with sustainable development in the coming time.
For the implementation of the "Binh Duong Smart City" project in 2018, the province will improve road and railway traffic connecting with Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Province; At the same time, set up a multi-modal logistics network in the province to meet the needs of existing and new businesses.
Recently, the Executive Board of "Binh Duong Smart City" project issued a plan to execute this project in 2018. Accordingly, the board will enhance the “Triple Helix” cooperative model in all fields; instruct Department of Foreign Affairs to collaborate with the Office of Provincial People's Committee, Becamex IDC, Smart City Office and related agencies to advise on organizing major events of Smart City in Binh Duong Province 2018, for example, the 20th anniversary of WTA, the 3rd Binh Duong City Smart City workshop. In addition, this year, Binh Duong will officially apply to join ICF Smart21 Community. WTA was established in 1998 in Daejeon city, Korea.
