Keeping market stable during Tet

The Tet (Lunar New Year) festival 2022 is approaching. Ensuring the source of goods and stabilizing market prices are a key issue being actively implemented by functional sectors, localities and enterprises. The purchasing power in the market is increasing gradually. This is also the time when enterprises and people rush to release goods to the market to serve customers ‘demand for shopping on Tet.

The purchasing power in the market has been improved, but is still in a downtrend compared to the same period in previous years. Economic experts said that this year's Tet holiday, the market stabilization program is mainly carried out at large-scale retailers with goods only accounting for about 25-30% of total amount of goods while the rest is mainly through the traditional channel. As a result, commodity prices tend to increase in the traditional channel on the days near Tet. Therefore, functional forces need to strengthen the inspection of price listing with focus on ensuring food safety at markets and production facilities, especially establishments producing and trading in processed food.

Regarding solutions, it is thought that functional sectors need to strengthen management while further coordinating in implementing the local price stabilization program, well organizing the distribution system of bringing goods to consumers; especially strengthen the fight against counterfeit products, smuggled goods and trade fraud... Functional sectors also need to create favorable conditions for enterprises to actively get involved in the price stabilization program, preparing the source of goods for the early and full supply of essential consumer goods with reasonable prices and good quality; link activities connecting supply and demand, bringing Vietnamese goods to the countryside, organizing trade fairs and exhibitions on Vietnamese goods in association with the implementation of the campaign of "Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods"…

In the "new normal" state after the pandemic is basically controlled, ensuring the supply of goods, stabilizing the prices and quality of goods require special attention from functional sectors, contributing to stabilizing the market, ensuring social welfare. In order to better serve consumers, enterprises and localities further pay attention to preparing goods, stockpiling essential goods for Tet, and implementing measures to stabilize the market; support and connect enterprises producing and distributing essential goods, stockpiling goods to stabilize the market. They also strengthen inspection and supervision of market prices, product quality, regulations on food safety; strictly handle acts of speculation, hoarding of goods, price hikes…
