Participating enterprises
According to the organizers, this year’s “Lai Thieu in ripe fruit season” festival will absorb 40 gardeners with booths displaying and selling Lai Thieu fruit specialties. Tens of gardeners from the Mekong Delta region will be present at the festival, making the color of southern fruits get diversified. Fruit booths at the festival will be arranged along the embankment of Vam Bung canal, facilitating visitors’shopping and sightseeing.
Huynh Thi Thanh Phuong, Vice-Chairwoman of Thuan An town’s People’s Committee said that this year’s festival will also feature more than 100 booths on fine art and handicraft items.
Possibly seeing, many farming households in the province in general and in Thuan An town in particular have been proactive to change nurslings and breeding animals in line with the new situation. Urban and hi-tech agricultural models are now the selection of many farming households in the province. The province is also paying attention to preserving and developing traditional craft villages. This year’s festival promises more optimistic view about the province’s agriculture-rural development in the new period.
Opportunity to popularize tourism
Over the past years, the annual “Lai Thieu in ripe fruit season” festival absorbed tens of thousands of visitors. This is seen as a good opportunity to popularize the local tourism.
This year’s festival features many significant activities being imbrued with southern cultural identities, comprising of an exhibition on fruit arrangement works, a “Don ca tai tu” (southern folk music) space, southern food booths, variety shows…
According to Mrs.Phuong, this will be a chance for travel units to promote the local tourism. They are expected to design tours to orchards in association with eateries along Saigon riverside. Especially, the organizing board of the festival will open tours to the local historical relic sites and landscapes by tramcars, carriages…
Provincial People’s Committee has also just approved a project on “Developing Binh Duong’s typical tourism products to 2015 and vision to 2020”. Under the project, the province will give priority to traditional craft village and ecological tourism development…Till 2010, it is expected that the province will welcome 6 million tourists with total revenue of more than VND4trillion, generating jobs for nearly 30,000 laborers.
With many significant activities, this year’s festival will contribute to making a target of the province’s tourism development come true.
