Binh Duong’s Lai Thieu mangosteen and HCM city’s Can Gio sweet mango defeated nearly 500 samples of delicious fruits to grasp two first prizes at the “delicious, safe fruit” contest, which was held during the Southern Fruit Festival 2011 at Suoi Tien Cultural Tourist Park in HCM city’s district 9.
18 second prizes and 23 third prizes were also presented to other delicious fruit samples at the contest. Noticeably, there were two new records set up at the festival, including “The festival with the most fruit varieties” and “The festival with the most fruit artworks”.

The organizing board of the festival also announced and awarded prizes to outstanding artworks at the fruit artwork contest. 9 out of 17 artworks from Binh Duong’s artisans were awarded prizes at the contest:
In the group A, artisan Le Ngoc Diep from Thuan An town won the gold medal with the “Dau chan phia truoc” (Footprints ahead) artwork. While, in the group B, artisan Le Thanh Trang from Thuan An town grasped the bronze medal with the “Rang ro non song Nguoi ra di tren Ben Nha Rong” (…Uncle Ho left Nha Rong wharf to seek ways of liberating the country) artwork.
In the group C, artisan Pham Van Nia from TDM town won the gold medal with the “Vietnam forever remembers Uncle Ho” (Vietnam nho mai on Nguoi) artwork. Silver medals went two artisans Vo Thanh Quy from TDM town with the “TP.HCM-heroic city” (TP.HCM-thanh pho anh hung) artwork and Nguyen Hoang Chau from Thuan An town with the “Marking the 100th anniversary since Uncle Ho left his homeland for France to seek a way to save the country” (Ky niem 100 nam Bac Ho ra di tim duong cuu nuoc) artwork.
Bronze medals in the group also belonged to artisans Thuan An town’s Le Ngoc Bich, Ben Cat district’s Le Quoc Nam, Pham Van Pham and Tran Trung Tin.
