Lai Uyen commune was chosen to be he administrative center of Bau Bang district. Therefore, Lai Uyen has promoted its advantages, especially in industrial production and services, to facilitate local economy.
Industry and services is in the process of developing
Lai Uyen commune is developing in the direction of industry – service – agriculture. The commune has now 74 enterprises, including 38 ones performing well, creating jobs for many labours.
Trading and services have developed energetically. Lai Uyen market and Bau Bang market have fully essential items to serve daily needs of local people. According to Lai Uyen market’s manager Vien The Kiet, the market was constructed in 1992, has an area of 5,136m2 with 92 stalls. The market’s managers often coordinate with authorities to inspect food hygiene and safety, security order, fire prevention.

Ms. Phan Thu Thuy in Bau Lot hamlet said, Lai Uyen market has many places to eat and drink. Food here including vegetables, meat, fish are fresh and can fulfill needs of local people.
According to Lai Uyen commune People’s Committee’s Chairman Vo Dat Thanh, since economic restructuring, many businesses have made investments in the commune, changing the appearance of a former agricultural commune. Thereby, municipal people’s living standards have been improved, especially after being the administrative center of the district.
“To enhance industry and service, the commune will continue to facilitate and attract business’s investments in the commune”, said Mr. Thanh.
Comprehensive infrastructure investment
To facilitate economic development and deserve to be a administrative center, the commune has made comprehensive investments in infrastructure. The commune has now 52 roads that were asphalted. The commune also repairs and upgrades many roads every year.
Recently, Lai Uyen commune has graveled and put into use Ong Chi – Ong Hiep route in Ben Lon hamlet; repaired rural roads in the commune, roads at the back entrance of People’s Committee; concreted roads linking Bau Long and Xa Mach hamlet, etc.
According to Mr. Thanh, to make the infrastructure better, Lai Uyen commune continues to inspect, handle illegal constructions; complete target constructions; finish financial proposals and designs of some constructions in the last two months.
