Under the sound leadership of the local Party, government plus the efforts by locals, Bau Bang district’s Lai Uyen commune overcame difficulties and gained economic growth with some targets surpassing the set plan in 2015.

With a right shift on economic structure, Lai Uyen commune has reached robust growth
Nguyen Minh Trang, Vice-Chairman of Lai Uyen communal People’s Committee said that the local economic structure in 2015 saw a great shift compared to 2014. Particularly, the proportion of industrial production accounted for 54% of the local economic structure, a year-on-year increase of 2.7%. Total State budget collection was estimated at more than VND13bln or 101% of the target set out by the district. The rate of poor households under the province’s poverty line reduced to 0.64%. With 74 businesses operating inside and outside Bau Bang industrial park, the commune has so far generated stable jobs for the local laborers.
Along with accelerating industrial development, Lai Uyen commune since early this year has attached special attention to making investment in infrastructure and trade-service at locals’ demand for traveling, shopping and trade exchange. The whole commune is now home to 1.248 business facilities and 2 markets, basically meeting locals’ demand for shopping and recreation.
Tran Van An, former Secretary of Lai Uyen communal Party Committee said that the commune has recently made strong changes, especially since there has been the Government’s resolution on the establishment of Bau Bang district. Speeding up urban and industrial development
To realize a target on shifting the local economic structure towards industrial-service and urban development under the Resolution of the local Party Committee for the 2015-2020 tenure, Lai Uyen commune will strive to achieve 54%-56% of industrial proportion, 26%-30% of trade-service proportion and below 16% of agriculture proportion in 2016. The rate of poor households herein under the province’s poverty line will reduce to 1%.
Besides, Lai Uyen commune will promote the local development on goods distribution network and services regarding lodging, eating-drinking, education, healthcare…at locals’ demand.
In order to implement the above-mentioned targets, the commune will create advantageous conditions and ensure order-security to absorb investors; mobilize locals to promote home industries and household business models. The commune will also attach special importance to associating economic growth with socio-culture development while perfecting socio-economic infrastructure.
Mr.Trang added that Bau Bang has been recognized as a second-class city. Defining the boundary of Lai Uyen and Lai Hung communes for the establishment of Bau Bang township have also been implemented. All will be the foundation for the commune to speed up the local urban and service development in the coming time.
According to Nguyen Huu Chi, Secretary of Bau Bang district’s Party Committee, Lai Uyen and Lai Hung communes are two main zones for the district’s trade-service development. Therefore, the district will plan to rebuild Lai Khe market in Lai Hung commune and Lai Uyen market. The two zones have been developed for a long time and are crowded with residents. They also play an important role for exchange connection between Ben Cat town’s My Phuoc ward and Binh Phuoc province’s Chon Thanh district through the highway 13.
