On May 16, Mr. Mai Hung Dung, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, received the of Cuban Mariel Special Economic Development Zone’s delegation led by Yanet Vazquez Valdes, Deputy Director of the Special Zone’s Office, visiting and learning experience in attracting foreign investment and developing industrial zones in Binh Duong province. The delegation was accompanied by Ariadne Feo Labrada, Consul General of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City.
At the meeting, Mr. Mai Hung Dung briefly introduced outstanding achievements of Binh Duong province's socio-economic development in recent years. GRDP of Binh Duong has been reaching high growth rates compared to the average growth rate of the whole country; the province's economic structure has shifted positively by increasing the proportion of services and industry... In the coming time, Binh Duong will set up a working group to act as a bridge connecting the two provinces of Binh Duong and Artemisa province (Cuba); organize online seminars for enterprises of the two countries to explore mutual investment opportunities as well as spread more information about the Mariel Special Development Zone for businesses to explore investment opportunities.
Ms. Yanet Vazquez Valdes expressed her impression of Binh Duong's quick development, especially the results of FDI investment attraction. She wishes to continue exchanging experience with Binh Duong and have more Vietnamese investors in general and Binh Duong enterprises in particular invest in the Mariel Special Economic Development Zone. Mariel Special Economic Development Zone is the first and only special economic zone in Cuba up to the present time, has attracted 63 investment projects, of which 43 are projects from more than 20 countries, with a total investment capital of more than 3 billion USD, Vietnam is the leading country among investors from Asia.
