The biggest International Home Decor and Gift Fair in Vietnam - Lifestyle Vietnam 2015, held in Ho Chi Minh city, continues to reap successes when attracting hundreds of handicraft makers inside and outside of the country, thousands of importers from the North EU, Africa, Hong Kong and more. Binh Duong’s products were highly appreciated by clients at the fair.
Optimistic signal
At the 5th edition of Lifestyle Vietnam, the Vietnam Handicraft Exporters Association (VietCraft) recognizes Vietnam’s gigantic achievements on occupying export market of handicraft. In 2014 alone, Vietnam handicraft won a US$1.6bn revenue, accounting for one fifth of world market share.
According to VietCraft, Vietnam’s handicraft products have appeared across tens of nations and territories. Aside from traditional markets such as China, the US, Japan, Vietnam’s handicraft has been expanded across the EU and Asia markets. Vietnam’s handicraft products are not only for display and decoration but become attracting item that many international importers distribute for clients.
Pailo Sousa, a trader from Spain said “I have joined in LifeStyle Vietnam for 2 times and am impressed by Vietnam’s handicraft products. As for quality, Vietnam’s handicraft products are not lower than China’s ones while price is very competitive. Therefore, I annually import Vietnam’s handicraft products worth millions of US$ to trade in Spain”.
VietCraft said that handicraft products made by bamboo, rattan materials gain a US$530mn turnover, beyond porcelain item. Experts said that the global trend bounds for sustainable development, so environment element will decide success of nations and territories. Vietnam’s bamboo and rattan handicraft items meet clean and green demand and less impact on environment, so most of customers love Vietnam’s products.
At present, many universities in the EU have assigned students to Vietnam to research and design products made by bamboo and rattan materials. This will a great opportunity of Vietnam’s handicraft industry.
Impression on Binh Duong porcelain
Joining in LifeStyle Vietnam 2015, Binh Duong Porcelain Association sends 3 famous porcelain companies to the event. Thousands of visitors learned about Binh Duong’s porcelain products and suggested cooperation with these companies. This is an optimistic signal for Vietnam porcelain industry in general and Binh Duong porcelain trademark in particular.
Woong Wai Shin, an importer from Hong Kong said “I have heard about Bat Trang porcelain in Vietnam but joining in the fair, I am really impressed on Binh Duong’s porcelain. Quality, pattern of Binh Duong porcelain reach world standard. Binh Duong porcelain will in the future become a favorite item on the world market”.
Cao Huy Son, head of Trade Promotion Bureau under the Ministry of Trade and Industry said that under instruction of the Government Prime Minister, development of handicraft industry must satisfy sustainable and environmentally friendly element. Figure of growth of this industry in the recent shows that handicraft industry not only brings economic interest but introduce Vietnamese cultural identity to international friends.
Cao Huy Son also assessed that handicraft makers’ effort contributes to take handicraft industry join in the US$1billion Club in the short time. This is a common success of artisans who bravely invest their capacity and asset in this industry to the world market.
