Many supportive measures for businesses

 

At Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park 1 in Thuan An town, the provincial People’s Committee chairman Le Thanh Cung and leaders of departments, agencies heard reports on investment of businesses into VSIP 1 and 2 presented by VSIP Management Board.

 

Accordingly, the past protest-turned-riots impacted badly on operations of some businesses at the two above mentioned industrial parks. After the problem, under the drastic instruction of the provincial leaders plus positive assistance of central agencies and urgent involvement of functional agencies, order and security at the above mentioned industrial parks was stabilized gradually on May 14. Until now, many enterprises have improved consequences and resumed their normal operations.

 

At the meeting, reps of some companies affected by the protest-turned-riots raised some issues to solve salary, social insurance for laborers; measures to assist enterprises to resume their production; problems of security and safety for businesses and laborers; supportive solutions to recover burnt machines and so on. Huang Ching Yun, secretary of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in HCMC petitioned Binh Duong should set out policies of extending tax and social insurance payment for Taiwanese companies, especially the completely burnt enterprises.

 

Replying the petition, the provincial Social Insurance director Bui Huu Phong said that to solve well policies for laborers, especially the completely-burnt companies, businesses should synthesize quantity of workers to help local social insurance set out supportive measures. Regarding order and security, Major Vo Thanh Duc, director of the provincial Public Security said that the provincial Public Security has now classified all the detainees and will impose criminal charges on rioters who took the lead in causing disorder. The lost assets of businesses alone were revoked and will be refunded soon.

 

In addition, Major Vo Thanh Duc also affirmed that local order and security situation has been ensured and pledged not to happen similar incidents.

 

Encouraging and sharing with the affected companies at VSIP 1 and 2, the provincial People’s Committee chairman Le Thanh Cung affirmed that Vietnamese government and provincial authority would set out supportive measures for the affected businesses and well implement policies for laborers at the affected enterprises. The chairman also suggested companies to cooperate with local functional agencies to agree on wage payment for laborers and the local authority will sponsor the expenditure. Moreover, the chairman pledged to absolutely ensure local companies and foreign experts’ safety and asked the enterprises to resume their normal operations soon.

 

Retaking companies’ trust

 

Also the same day, the provincial People’s Committee chairman Le Thanh Cung, the provincial People’s Committee vice chairman Tran Thanh Liem and leaders of some departments, agencies met with Korean Business Association in Binh Duong and reps of 30 Korean enterprises investing in the province. Most of the Korean enterprises paid attention to order and security situation, supportive measures for the affected businesses and policies for laborers and among others.

  Reps of many enterprises hope to enjoy assistance from local authorities to resume their normal operations soon.

 

Kim Byung Seok, general director of Apex Vina Co.Ltd. in Dong An IP 1, Thuan An town said that in the past incident, his company was affected seriously but the company will resume its operation in the province and he hoped that the provincial administration would set out measures to help the affected companies resume their normal operations soon.

 

Similarly, HCMC-based Korean consul general Oh Jae Hack asked the provincial leaders to soon set out measures for aiding all the affected enterprises in a bid to help the affected companies resume their normal operations as soon as possible.

 

Replying the petitions, the provincial People’s Committee chairman Le Thanh Cung shared with the affected companies’ damages by concrete measures. Accordingly, the provincial leaders will focus all sources on helping the affected companies.

 

Additionally, the provincial chairman stressed “Implementing the Government’s instruction and guidances of central ministries and sectors, Binh Duong has assessed the costs of damages to foreign businesses to offer them financial assistance in order to help them resume operations. In the coming days, supportive measures in details will be announced for the affected enterprises”.
