After two-year implementation, the National Target Program on New Rural Construction has not only created a new image of the province’s rural region, but also raised the local people’s awareness, responsibility about the goal and significance of the program.
Nguyen Minh Thuy, Deputy Director of
provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that thanks to
propaganda work sped up, steering boards at all levels consolidated, relevant
contents brought to the resolutions of Party committees at all levels and local
authorities, infrastructure construction in the rural region of the province
has reached positive results. 
This is a model of growing tomatoes by water culture way of Bay Dep, a farmer in Ben Cat district’s Phu An commune.
As planned, the province’s five communes, including Dau Tieng district’s Thanh An commune, Tan Uyen district’s Bach Dang commune, Phu Giao district’s Tan Long commune, Thuan An town’s An Son commune and Ben Cat district’s Chanh Phu Hoa commune, will fulfill their new rural construction by 2013. Thanh An has so far the reached 15 of the 19 criteria set by the National Target Program on New Rural Construction; Bach Dang and Tan Long with 14 of the 19 criteria; An Son with 12 of the 19 criteria and Chanh Phu Hoa with 11 of the 19 criteria.
After two year-implementation, the National Target Program on New Rural Construction has brought great changes to the rural region Thanh An. Hoang Van Tan, Chairman of Thanh An communal People’s Committee said that the commune last year focused on rural infrastructure construction and investment. Thanh An is building the work of national standard Tan Thanh primary school and it is expected to be completed in early 2013, contributing to helping the locality fulfill the remaining criteria on new rural construction by 2013.
In addition to the above five communes selected as the province’s pilot localities for new rural construction, other communes now focus on implementing the program with high determination. Despite difficulties, Cay Truong commune in Ben Cat district has been determinate to build the new rural program with the integral efforts of the local government and people. The local infrastructure system has been improved, basically meeting the local people’s demand for daily life and production. Do Tuan Hung, Vice-Chairman of the communal People’s Committee said: “Many households over time donated their land and money to build many rural roads and bridges such as Ba Tu road, Suoi Can bridge…, contributing to changing the local rural image”.
Mrs.Thuy said: “In 2013, provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will speed up dissemination of information about the National Target Program on New Rural Construction by many forms; strengthen inspection and monitoring of localities’ new rural construction for timely solutions so that they can fulfill their new rural construction in the soonest time…”.
