Local science and technology sector obtains encouraging results

On the afternoon of January 16, provincial Department of Science and Technology held a conference to review the results of 2024 and set out tasks for 2025 at provincial Community Initiatives Center. Attendees included Mai Hung Dung, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; Truong Thi Bich Hanh, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee's Commission for Propaganda and Education; Nguyen Manh Cuong, representative of the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Office, along with leaders from various departments, sectors and businesses.

Reportedly, in 2024, new scientific and technological topics and projects were estimated to achieve 110% of the set targets, bringing the total number of ongoing topics, projects and urgent policy proposals under management to 47 tasks. Binh Duong ranked 8th in the provincial Innovation Index (PII) for 2023 and was recognized in the Top 4.0 Industry of Vietnam for 2024.

Additionally, the department organized more than 34 events, seminars and training workshops across the province on topics such as the 2024 Electric and Energy Exhibition, the 2024 Vietnam Automation Exhibition, online discussions on promoting FDI investment attraction, innovation capacity, digital economy and society development, “Creative Startup Ideas” competition…

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Dung requested provincial science and technology sector to urgently collaborate with departments, sectors and localities to advise and propose to competent authorities to issue an action plan for implementing the Politburo’s Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024, on breakthroughs in developing science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation in the province, promptly and effectively implementing tasks assigned by provincial People's Committee in the 2025 socio-economic development plan.
