Local transport sector reaches many positive changes

Acceleration of checking traffic safety

Through patrols and inspections, functional agencies mobilized to dismantle 10,098 works occupying corridors of road and railway safety. The total dismantled area was at 25,670sqm with the total value of over VND12.6bil.

As for traffic patrol work, the functional agencies made 9,784 minutes violating traffic safety and order and 18 ones breaching waterway safety and setting out fine decisions for 9,685 cases with the total value of over VND9.2bil as well as revoked 2,196 driving licenses and suspended operation of 53 automobiles.

In order to ensure traffic safety and order, the transport sector continues perfecting and implementing the provincial strategy of traffic safety and launching a plan on “Action plan on building the traffic culture movement with waterway safety 2013” and the action plan on For children’s safety on rivers for the 2013-2015 period. At present, the provincial Transport Department has worked with the provincial People’s Committee and Committee for Traffic Safety to hold a launching ceremony of these action plans.

Ensuring transport infrastructure

The provincial Transport Department’s main tasks are to adjust expressway route of HCMC-TDM-Chon Thanh, suggest to expand Go Dua traffic area and submit an overall planning on Binh Duong Transport till 2020 and orientation till 2030 to the provincial People’s Committee as well as to announce a detailed planning on HCMC railway and planning on railway routes linking with local roads.

Over the past 9 months, the local Transport Department repaired and ensured traffic safety across routes managed by the department. Le Van Rum, director of the local Transport Department said “Seriously implementing Resolution 11 on thrift practice, the unit decreased costs of repairing local roads. In the coming time, we will continue giving advices on collecting, managing and using road maintenance fees for motorbikes to the provincial People’s Committee.

Thanks to excelling traffic safety work, local transport won high results. In addition, the functional agencies steered transport businesses to spur control on cattle and poultry transport as well as cooperated with the provincial Institute for Urban Planning and Development to implement planning adjustment on public transport network.

Improving quality of management

In the first 9 months of this year, functional agencies under the provincial Transport Department accelerated inspections on granting driving licenses to motorbike and automobile drivers.

Additionally, the department granted and changed driving licenses for 24,042 cases. The department also worked with relevant units to check traffic order and safety on waterway routes and held 3 inspections on the local vehicle test center’s operation.

Moreover, the department has launched implementation of the 2013 traffic safety year with the theme of improving cadres’ responsibility and traffic participants’ awareness in a bid to ensure safety and uphold traffic participants’ culture.

In the first 9 months of this year, the department granted 21 licenses on inter Viet-Lao transport, 40 on inter Vietnam-Cambodia transport, 916 contract-run auto badges, 882 tax badges, 215 fixed route badges, 4 transport business licenses.

In addition, the provincial Coach Terminal catered for more than 524,997 passengers reaching a turnover of VND2.43bil, winning 105% of 2013’s plan. The center for public passenger transport management transported 338,694 routes, a 1.8% increase from the same period last year. The number of passengers obtained 9.1 million, reaching 98% from the same period last year and 68% of 2013’s plan.
