On the days nearing Tet, weather often becomes cold. This is a favorable condition for appearance of epidemic diseases on cattle and poultry herds. To ensure safety for cattle and poultry herds and food source for the coming Tet holiday, the provincial Veterinary Sector has mapped out concrete plans before, during and after Tet.

Control of epidemic diseases spurred
In 2011, along with efforts of local veterinary sector, epidemic diseases in cattle and poultry herds are under good scrutiny. In the past year, some localities controlled spreading of epidemic diseases.
Reportedly, the province has had about 500,000 pigs and over 30,000 buffalos and cows. In order to ensure safety for the cattle and poultry herds, the local veterinary sector has launched measures to protect cattle and poultry herds effectively. Veterinary employees will cooperate with functional agencies to supervise transport of cattle and poultry in the coming time.
On the days nearing Tet, all level veterinary agencies will spur inspections across slaughter-houses to minimize slaughtering of products without clear origins. In addition, the sector will reinforce inspection on batches of frozen goods.
Strict measures for small trade of living poultry
Functional agencies have reinforced measures to minimize small and separate trade of living poultry. Most small and separate selling locations of living poultry are in shortage of quarantine of veterinary sector. The trade does not ensure requirements of veterinary and food safety. In the coming time, management of the selling locations will be implemented drastically.
The local veterinary sector has worked with managerial boards of markets to arrange selling locations of living poultry for small traders. The locations are under supervision of functional agencies.
Now, weather becomes colder, so breeders should keep their cattle and poultry herds warm as well as reinforce vitamins for livestocks.
