Logistics enterprises advance digital transformation for sustainable development

Logistics companies in Binh Duong are leveraging their geographical position and integrated transport infrastructure to advance digital transformation and enhance logistics services through technology platforms.

Data Integration

Binh Duong recognizes logistics as a crucial and leading economic sector within the province's development strategy for the period of 2024-2030, with a vision extending to 2045. To enhance logistics in terms of regional connectivity, Binh Duong aims to establish itself as a satellite center, concentrating on logistics services that support the production of goods in the Southern region.

Mr. Le Manh Ha, Director of TBS Logistics, asserts that digital transformation within the logistics industry transcends the mere implementation of management software; it represents a fundamental shift in business models, supply chain optimization, and the integration of technology at every operational stage. TBS Logistics advocates for digital transformation in the logistics sector by prioritizing a change in leadership mindset, emphasizing that digital transformation is primarily a matter of mechanisms and awareness rather than solely a technological concern.

“At warehouses, TBS Logistics employs automated technology for the arrangement and unloading of goods, which aids in reducing labor costs, optimizing storage space, and enhancing order processing speed. Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology further facilitates the analysis of stored data, enabling enterprises to identify inventory levels, forecast demand, and mitigate the risk of supply chain disruptions. Additionally, an Internet of Things (IoT) sensor system is installed to monitor temperature and humidity in real time, ensuring the quality of goods throughout storage and transportation. The company has also begun implementing blockchain platforms in supply chain management, which guarantees transparency, security, and traceability of goods. This approach supports businesses in reducing delivery times, minimizing errors, and optimizing operations,” stated Mr. Ha.

Mr. Tran Van Men, Director of Tan Cang Thanh Phuoc Service Joint Stock Company, stated that Thanh Phuoc Port (Tan Uyen city) is dedicated to enhancing customs clearance services for import and export goods via barge routes that link to port clusters in Ho Chi Minh city, particularly to the deep-water port cluster in Cai Mep - Thi Vai (Ba Ria - Vung Tau). Currently, Thanh Phuoc Port has established a data transmission line connecting customs and shipping lines. Additionally, the port has invested in a smart port management system utilizing TOS and Eport software, which has significantly reduced the time required for processing customs clearance and cargo delivery.

Mr. Tran Phong, Director of Innovation at U&I Logistics Joint Stock Company, discussed the digital transformation journey undertaken by U&I Logistics in its operations, particularly in warehousing and freight transportation. This transformation leverages data, digital technology, and innovation to enhance productivity, management capabilities, and efficiency in infrastructure management. Consequently, it optimizes costs while fostering transparency and sustainable value for customers.

Advanced supply chain development

Mr. Tran Son Hai, Deputy Director of Binh Duong Port, emphasizes that the organization consistently employs modern technology and streamlines processes to provide optimal service to customers while reducing costs and time. By fostering connections among stakeholders, including shipping lines, ports, and customers, Binh Duong Port has enhanced the utilization of two-way containers, thereby lowering expenses for clients and facilitating the transportation of goods. The port has implemented real-time logistics data collection systems, enabling businesses to effortlessly monitor order statuses and adjust transportation routes to reduce delivery times. These platforms also assist business entities in analyzing and forecasting demand, thus optimizing warehousing and transportation. Furthermore, the integration of the electronic customs management system with logistics centers automates the customs clearance process, alleviates cumbersome paperwork, and accelerates the movement of goods across borders.

Ms. Huynh Dinh Thai Linh, Chairman of the Binh Duong Logistics Association, reported that the logistics supply chain within the province has undergone partial digitalization; however, certain limitations persist. Binh Duong is actively attracting investment in green logistics, enhancing modern supply chains, and integrating regional and international logistics services. This initiative aims to improve the efficiency of production and business operations, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of the province. Binh Duong has recognized the promotion of logistics services as a crucial foundation for attracting foreign investment, fostering international economic integration, and establishing itself as the logistics hub of the Southern region.

To address the demand for high-quality human resources, Binh Duong has been collaborating with universities and research institutes to implement training programs in digital logistics and smart supply chain management. These courses emphasize the application of technology in logistics management, enabling industry workers to adapt to the trend of digital transformation. Additionally, Binh Duong has established supportive policies for startups, innovation, and small to medium enterprises to facilitate the digital transformation process, allowing them to adapt more swiftly and effectively, thereby enhancing their competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.

Binh Duong provincial People's Committee has recently issued Decision No. 404/QD-UBND, which approves the Plan for the Development of Logistics Services in Binh Duong Province through 2025, with a vision extending to 2030 and 2050. In this context, businesses are encouraged to proactively engage in digital transformation concerning the management and operation of logistics activities. The establishment of a logistics database network is recommended to serve as a conduit between logistics enterprises, import-export companies, manufacturers, and logistics service providers. Furthermore, there is a strong emphasis on the development of e-logistics services, supply chain management services, and value chains in logistics through the utilization of Blockchain, IoT, AI, Big Data, and sensors. These initiatives aim to address existing weaknesses, enhance management capabilities, improve service quality, reduce costs, and bolster price competitiveness.
