Advantages
Bach Van Khoi, chairman of Long Nguyen communal People’s Committee said that the whole commune now has 7,084.64 hectare of farm land, most of them are used for growing rubber trees. This shows that rubber tree brings main income for the local people.
Also according to Mr.Khoi, in the previous years, many local farmers became billionaires thanks to high rubber latex price. This year, despite rubber latex price on sharp decrease, the local people have still secured stable income from this kind of tree.
In addition to rubber tree, Long Nguyen has got involved in growing fruit trees. Nguyen Thanh Thuy, a resident in the commune, is now well-known with 13 hectares of green skin pomelo, bringing high economic efficiency.
Long Nguyen is also home to more than 70 of chicken farmsteads with a total of 700,000 flows and 43 pig ones with 20,000 various pigs.
In the coming time, the communal People’s Committee will map out concrete plans to develop Long Nguyen into one of Ben Cat district’s big livestock breeding areas.
Boosting new rural construction
Thanks to its advantages, Long Nguyen commune has become one of Ben Cat district’s communes selected for the pilot project on rural new construction.
Long Nguyen commune has so far achieved 8 out of 19 criteria on new rural construction, but still faced difficulties to meet the remaining criteria.
The local government has made great efforts in new rural construction. As planned, the commune will be handed over 7.9 hectares of land from the corporation to build five important works, including market, cultural center, Hoa Hong 2 pre-school, high school and junior high school. Once completed, they will help the commune meet another important criteria for new rural construction.
Mr.Khoi said that Long Nguyen will make more efforts to achieve important criteria for new rural construction. The commune will depend on its firm foundation from agricultural production to promote the development of service and processing sectors in order to achieve a more stable economic growth in the future, further foster farm economy in both quality and quantity…
