Making efforts in Covid-19 prevention, ensuring socio-economic development

In Q1, 2020, the complicated development of Covid-19 pandemic has made the country’s socio-economic situation face difficulties. Along with effectively curbing the pandemic, the province has drastically taken solutions in order to step by step surmount obstacles, stabilizing the lives of people, exploiting all advantages to ensure tasks on socio-economic development, maintaining the local stable growth.

Maintaining growth

Early March 24, Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee presided over a periodic session of provincial People’s Committee in March with focus on reviewing the local socio-economic development, national defence-security in Q1, 2020; defining orientations, tasks for Q2, 2020 while approving a plan on removing obstacles in production-business, ensuring social welfare, combating Covid-19 pandemic.

Accordingly, the province’s index of industrial production in Q1, 2020 surged 6.14% compared to the same period last year.  The province’s total retail sales revenue of commodities and services was estimated at more than VND62.1trillion, up 11.7% against the same period last year. The province’s consumer price index soared 5.14% over the same period last year. The province’s export turnover was US$5.8billion, up 3.6% while import value was US$4.2billion, up 4.3%.

Also in Q1, 2020, the province’s total investment capital for social development was estimated at more than VND20.9trillion, up 10.2% against the same period last year. As of March 15, the province absorbed more than VND 9.52trillion in domestic investment capital from 1,159 enterprises. The figure has brought the total number of domestic enterprises in the province so far to 43,757 with total registered capital of more than VND374.18trillion. The province also lured additional US$293.5million in FDI capital. Thus, the province has to date attracted 3,816 FDI projects with total registered capital of US$34.6billion. The province’s State budget collection was VND17.14trillion, up 15% compared to the same period last year. The complicated development of Covid-19 pandemic since early this year has also made the local socio-economic situation face a lot of obstacles. But, with the efforts by the local administration, enterprises and people, Binh Duong province has well curbed the pandemic and taken solutions on economic growth.

Taking solutions to remove obstacles

Realizing that tasks in Q2, 2020 are very important, creating the foundation for completion of the local socio-economic development targets this year, the province has instructed sectors, authorities at all levels to drastically realize solutions against Covid-19 pandemic from the Government, the PM, National Steering Board for Covid-19 Prevention and provincial Steering Board for Covid-19 Prevention.

Particularly, the province will not only focus on the fight against Covid-19 pandemic, but also make socio-economic development. The province will immediately implement support measures for enterprises affected by the pandemic, contributing to removing obstacles in production-business, ensuring social welfare; recover production-business activities, minimize losses caused by the pandemic towards more sustainable economy.

The province will also have good preparations to lure more resources from countries for the national and local development. Accordingly, the province will bent on some concrete tasks, including removing difficulties, creating favorable conditions for enterprises to get financial resources, cutting down administrative procedures, costs for enterprises; promoting export-import activities; urgently recovering and promoting tourism; speeding up investment capital disbursement, improving the investment climate; strengthening propaganda work…

At the session, delegates concentrated on reflecting obstacles of sectors, localities in the process of realizing entrusted tasks, due to Covid-19 pandemic; simultaneously proposed solutions to remove difficulties for some sectors heavily affected by the pandemic, continue well realizing the fight against the pandemic in association with ensuring social welfare, encourage enterprises to remove difficulties, stabilizing production…

Addressing the session, Mr.Liem affirmed that implementing solutions to remove difficulties in production-business is an urgent action in the current period of the province amid the complicated development of Covid-19 pandemic. He also asked for sectors, departments and the People’s Committees of districts, towns and cities to put focus on taking concrete action programs while conducting State agencies, officials, civil servants and laborers to realize tasks set out from these programs…

In terms of some groups of measures that need to be implemented in the coming time, he said that the province needs to concentrate on Covid-19 prevention to minimize its impacts on the lives of people; opportunely carry out support policies for enterprises; urgently disburse capital for eligible projects; effectively realize solutions on credit, tax…, thereby contributing to the local socio-economic development.
