Reps of supermarkets and small traders at the wholesale markets said that purchasing power on the past days increased about 30-40% from ordinary days. Expectedly, after the 23rd lunar day, the purchasing power will increase strongly.
At present, price of foodstuff and fresh vegetables is relatively stable, excluding some items of fish, ginger, mandarin and custard-apple and so on. Even, some items of rice and tomato have reduced about VND6,000 per kg.
The provincial department of Trade and Industry expected that on the days near Tet, price of items of foodstuff would be stabilized. Products of meat, egg, vegetable and fruit will be stabilized in supply on the market.
Of these, Vissan Company, Ba Huan Co., Pham Ton Co. and many more have pledged to stabilize price of their products. Many kinds of vegetables have reduced lightly from VND1,000-2,000 per kg whilst items of cake, sugar-coated fruit and beverage have not seen a big change in price.
At present, price of pork has decreased lightly. Supply of pork on the spot in this year is very plentiful, so its price is expected not to increase on Tet. Binh Duong province has about 467,578 pigs, up 24,000, reaching 6% from the past year.
However, retail price of pork at markets is increasing at VND5,000/kg, owing to demand on pork for Tet holiday sky-rockets. Meanwhile, beverage also starts rising lightly. Compared with the previous month, price of beer is still stabilized.
