On the afternoon of June 22, a delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MoARD), led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, carried out a field-trip on traditional craft villages in Binh Duong province.
The whole province now has a total of 47 rural crafts divided into 7 groups on processing, preserving agro-forestry-fishery products; making fine art handicrafts; treating, processing materials for rural production; producing woodwork, rattan-bamboo, pottery, glass items; producing and trading in ornamental creatures…Among them, groups on producing, trading in ornamental creatures and traditional crafts like lacquer, sculpture, pottery…Along with this, the province is now home to Tuong Binh Hiep lacquer village, 3 traditional crafts, including lacquer, sculpture and pottery in Thuan An and TDM cities.
As of now, Tuong Binh Hiep lacquer village has been developed nearly 300 years with well-known products nationwide. Its products are also exported into the US, France, Germany, Japan… Especially, it has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage.
Developing rural craft villages has contributed to making the shift of the local economic structure and labor structure, increasing incomes, improving the lives of rural laborers in the province.
