Moon-cake market: high prices, few customers!

Moon-cake market this year sees gloomy

The prices of various moon cakes this year are higher than those of the previous year. Moon-cake producers have launched many products with high quality and diversification in design. But, there have been reduction in number of customers compared to the previous years.

Moon-cake market this year continues seeing many products with new designs from producers Kinh Do, Nhu Lan, Dai Phat, Dong Khanh... Most producers have increased their moon cake output, so there is severe competition among them. In Binh Duong, Kinh Do and Dong Khanh’s products have dominated the moon-cake market.

Kinh Do has launched many high-grade moon cakes priced between VND520,000 and VND720,000 per box. Whilst, Nhu Lan has only launched two kinds of moon cakes with the highest price at VND800,000 per box. Dai Phat has also launched many kinds of high-grade moon cakes with the high price at VND614,000 per box…

Dong Khanh has begun offering 30% discount for all products, but there have still been few customers. Trung, the owner of Trung Son moon-cake shop on Binh Duong Avenue said: “This year, Nhu Lan’s moon cakes have become customers’ favorites, but they are sold at high price. Up to this time, Nhu Lan has rejected orders while Kinh Do has still received orders with the great amount.

Also according to the owner, province-based moon-cake shops have begun giving their own discounts. Moon-cake market this year sees gloomy. At province-based moon-cake shops, there are a lot of products still unsold just several days before the mid-autumn festival.
