On the afternoon of May 18, Nguyen Van Danh – Deputy Chairman of Binh Duong provincial People's Committee chaired a meeting to hear the reports on the strengthening of the Steering Committee against smuggling, commercial frauds and counterfeit goods (SC 389), the performance of the SC 389 and some key tasks in the coming time.
In the first 4 months of 2023, the activities of SC 389 have been effectively promoted in terms of tasks of inspecting and controlling the market. Accordingly, more than 3,000 cases have been examined to detect 1,884 violations, resulting in 1850 cases handled with fines and arrears of nearly VND 331 billion. In 2022 alone, over 7,000 violations were detected and over 6,800 cases were handled with fines and arrears of nearly VND 862 billion. The major violations were commercial frauds, acts of prohibited and contraband goods trading, and production and sale of counterfeit goods.
At the meeting, the delegates discussed and proposed contents to remove obstacles and resolve the problems to improve the effectiveness of directing and preventing smuggling, trade frauds and counterfeit goods, mechanism in e-commerce management, determination of the quality of material evidences of administrative violations, temporary import for re-export of agricultural products, Illegal currency transfers among others.
Concluding the meeting, Nguyen Van Dich highly appreciated the results of the implementation of the prevention of smuggling, commercial frauds and counterfeit goods over the past time. However, activities that violate the law on commerce still have many potential risks in new methods and tricks. The Deputy Chairman of the provincial People's Committee emphasized that there is no prohibited area to handle trade violations. Therefore, the Steering Committees at all levels need to be more drastic and responsible to analyze the causes and limitations and have specific and close solutions in each field to make the fight more effective in the coming time.
