Most textile and garment enterprises in the province are outsourcers

Leaders of provincial Department of Industry and Trade had a meeting with Ministry of Industry and Trade’s delegation to grasp the situation of textile and garment industry in the province to serve the planning and development of our textile and garment industry. According to the report, textile and garment industry has the second largest export turnover in the province, with $ 2.950 billion in 2016.

The province now has 386 textile and garment enterprises that are operating; however, most enterprises still are outsourcers for exports, very few businesses invest in its own brand. The use of labor by enterprises in this industry has not linked to long-term development strategy and training plan... In terms of long-term orientation, Binh Duong will limit attracting labor-intensive projects, projects with high risk of environmental pollution; and prioritize investment projects in supporting industries.

Speaking at the meeting, leaders of Binh Duong Textile Association asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to advise the Government on mechanisms and policies to link SMEs in all textile phases, and form a closed chain in garment operations in order to create strength for domestic garment enterprises and at the same time, to create favorable conditions for SMEs to develop sustainably in the closed chain: yarn - weaving - dyeing - printing - sewing.
