La Van Phan’s sweet mandarine garden brings high economic efficiency.
Through the movement, many models of cultivation and breeding in the large scale bring incomes worth from hundreds of million of dong to billions of dong per year.
Many typical models
Le Van Phan in Tru Van Tho commune, Bau Bang district is one of typical farmers in the provincial emulation movement of good farmers in production and business. He was used to be the owner of a sugarcane workshop in the Mekong delta province of Long An. In 1999, he arrived in Binh Duong province to plant fruit trees. After many tests, sweet mandarine offered the highest economic efficiency, so he bought 13 more acres of land in Loc Ninh district of Binh Phuoc province to plant this kind of fruit tree.
Until now, Phan’s family possess a 20ha sweet mandarine garden under harvest. Annually, his family offers as many as 700 tons of mandarine for the market. With the average selling price of 25,000/kg, he enjoys a profit of more than VND6bil per year. Phan said that growing sweet mandarine requires a high capital source and labor but if growers apply right techniques, they will revoke capital rapidly and make wealth.
Meanwhile, other farmers involve in breeding, business and enjoy a comfortable life. Nguyen Son, director of Ngoc Son Crocodile and Python Trade-Investment JSC in Binh Chuan ward, Thuan An town is a typical example. He enjoys a comfortable life, thanks to a close model of breeding and production of products made by crocodile and python skin.
In 1997, he arrived in Binh Chuan ward, Thuan An town to start a new life. Till 1999, he started trading products made by python skin. Thenceforth, he bravely invests in cages to breed and produce products made by python and crocodile skin. Until now, his company offers thousands of products to the market. Especially, his company’s products is awarded gold cup in quality by Vietnam Association for rural farmer business and farmstead.
Building trademark for farm produces
Over the past years, the movement of good farmers in production and business is widely launched farmers’ society at all levels. Over the past 3 years (2012-2014), the society at all levels in cooperation with functional agencies open more than 2,700 training classes to disseminate techniques of planting, taking care and exploiting rubber latex, breeding cattle and poultry and more for more than 131,000 members.
In addition, the society cooperates with some banks and enterprises to help farmers approach capital sources. Accordingly, more than 6,200 members enjoyed loans with the total outstanding up to tens of billions of dong. At present, the total support capital for local farmers reaches more than VND67bil and this amount of money is offered for more than 2,300 farmer households.
Particularly, the province develops 1,056 farmsteads with the total area of over 11,423ha, builds 24 cooperatives and 254 agricultural teams. During the process of developing farmstead and cooperatives economy, many models of good production and business winning high incomes from hundreds of millions of dong to billions of millions of dong emerge widely.
Nguyen Hoang Vinh, chairman of the provincial Farmers’ Society said that one of incoming key tasks of the society is to hold and instruct it branches to select the title of good farmer in production and business, guide members to borrow loans in service for breeding and cultivation. This activity is to well solve jobs for rural laborers, help farmers escape poverty.
