In early July 2024, Tetra Pak Company (VSIP 2A) announced its 25th sustainability report, closely following the results the company has achieved under its sustainable development program. Ms. Luong Thanh Thu, Head of Sustainable Development Department, Tetra Pak Vietnam, shared: “We are actively implementing activities to accompany Vietnam's transition to a circular economy. In 2024, the company aims to reach 500 tons of paper cartons collected and recycled through cooperative agreements."
Also according to Ms. Luong Thanh Thu, the company has set up 20 more fixed collection points at dairy stores that are customers of Tetra Pak, expected to double the number of paper cartons collected. The company will also continue to maintain weekly paper box collection activities at supermarket systems of Aeon Mall and MM Mega Market to raise awareness and build habits for collecting and classifying paper boxes in the community.
Mr. Alexander Christopher Falter, General Director of ECCO Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Bau Bang), said that the company is 100% Danish-owned and specializes in the manufacturing of shoes and leather bags for export. The company is currently trying to implement a transformation of green production. Accordingly, the company will initially use solar power at the factory, followed by reusing rainwater and equipping some vehicles with charging stations. In addition, the company also plans to convert machinery to automation, reduce labor, and minimize environmental waste. The company stores solar power on the rooftop to maintain stable production as well.
At the recent groundbreaking ceremony of the Pandora Factory, Mr. Alexander Lacik, CEO of Pandora Group, said that by investing in VSIP 3, the factory will establish new benchmarks in the global jewelry industry for ecological footprint, renewable CO2 emissions, and processing. This will be a factory using 100% renewable energy, including solar power for production activities. The factory will be equipped with advanced manufacturing technology and optimized with digital solutions.
“The facility will run entirely on renewable energy and will be constructed in compliance with LEED Gold standards, the preeminent green building certification. This will contribute to realizing Pandora's sustainability goal by halving carbon emissions across its entire supply chain by 2030 and achieving net zero emissions by 2040," Mr. Alexander Lacik affirmed.

According to Mr. Huynh Thanh Trung, General Director of Leanwwears Joint Stock Company, green production is not only a legal source of raw materials but also requires converting technology, reducing energy consumption, and reducing the use of human resources. However, this is also a difficult situation for the majority of Vietnamese businesses. There are several reasons for this, including high initial costs, limited technological capacity and human resources that cannot meet the transformation, a lack of professional partners with consulting capacity, and inadequate solutions. The inefficiencies in production management and human resource management are evident in numerous Vietnamese businesses today.
Tetra Park Company holds a contest to collect recycled cans for Binh Duong students
Mr. Nguyen Liem, Chairman of Binh Duong Furniture Association (BIFA), determined that green transformation is essential and wood industry enterprises must follow it. “In recent times, BIFA has conducted two workshops to offer comprehensive consultation and support for reducing emissions to several large wood processing companies. We have also engaged international environmental organizations to help fund and provide guidance to businesses on adopting eco-friendly practices. BIFA will host conferences and seminars to advise businesses on reducing emissions in production processes, such as implementing circular production and using certified sustainable wood sources. Additionally, we aim to demonstrate how digital transformation can add significant value. These are crucial standards for exporting wood and wood products," Mr. Liem said.
BIFA will also promote Green Vietnam Fund activities to ensure that wood industry enterprises do not use and trade wood of illegal origin, especially enhancing afforestation activities in areas at risk of environmental destruction, to protect and develop sustainable forests. BIFA will actively promote communication within businesses about production with reduced emissions, circular production, and production linked to digital transformation to propel the wood industry towards sustainable development, thereby creating higher added value.
