With the local fast industrial growth, Ben Cat town has been among the province’s huge urban and industrial areas. Urban infrastructure facilities have step by step been perfected, helping the town be recognized as a third-class city. This is one of favorable conditions for the town to further gain sustainable and rapid development.

Over the past time, with the integral efforts by the local Party, government, people and business community, Ben Cat town well realized the targets and tasks of the local Party Committee and People’s Council. Accordingly, the town’s economy continued reaching stable growth in the right direction.

The town also paid more attention to the fields of education, healthcare, social welfare with political security, social order and safety maintained. In addition, the town’s land management, planning, construction-urban order and environmental hygiene reached positive changes with locals’ income improved.
In 2018, the town’s economic growth was 23.5%. The town’s economic structure was developed with 78.83% in industry, 20.72% in services and 0.45% in agriculture. The average income per capita of the local people was VND114.9million. The town’s total production value was estimated at more than VND116.64trillion, up 19.7% compared to 2017.
Since early this year, the town has absorbed additional 263 investment projects, including 218 domestic investment projects and 45 FDI ones, with total capital of more than VND1.56trillion and nearly US$270million. Thus, the town has so far lured 3,789 investment projects capitalized at nearly VND35trillion and more than US$6.6billion. Also during the period, the town has developed additional 286 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMSEs), up 11.8% against the corresponding period last year. The figure has brought the total number of SMSEs herein to 1,500.
Attracting more investment projects has also helped the town create jobs to tens of thousands of laborers, greatly contributing to the local common development.
Economic growth in association with environmental protection
Ben Cat town holds an important strategic position of the province. The town has a synchronous infrastructure system and is a major trade gate for the southeastern region in general and Binh Duong province in particular through main streets, namely Highway 13, My Phuoc-Tan Van expressway, belt road 4 and DT741, DT744 and DT749 streets.
The above geographical position is one of favorable factors for the town to absorb more projects in industry, services, trade, finance and banking. Along with developing its central urban area, the town has formed up many other urban and industrial areas.
The town is now home to 8 industrial parks with 4,030 hectares in total and 1 concentrated production zone in Tan Dinh ward with 47.7 hectares in total. So far, they have attracted 3,249 domestic and FDI projects, generating jobs for around 160,000 laborers.
Over the past time, the town lured many projects in services. Till now, the town’s trade-service infrastructure system has got modern investment, basically meeting the local people’s demand for shopping.
In terms of urban development, the town focused on improving its urban quality, met criteria of a third-class city and is striving to reach criteria of a second-class city by 2020. Since early the 2015-2020 tenure, the town has built 207 works, including 56 on traffic, 100 on education, 11 on healthcare, 10 on power, 19 on civil engineering and 11 others. The town has also zoned 37 urban residential areas with nearly 2,800 hectares in total and constructed approximately 1,400 social houses for workers.
The town’s socio-economic development has facilitated the local State collection and spending. Noticeably, the town’s synchronous infrastructure system has opened up new opportunities for the local sustainable development.
Bui Duy Hien, Secretary of the town’s Party Committee affirmed that Ben Cat’s development into a third-class city came from the integral efforts by the local Party, government, people and business community during the local development process. In the coming time, the town will continue promoting the local economy in association with environmental protection; ensure harmonious development between new urban areas and urban rejuvenation…The town will also further make efforts to well realize the resolutions of the local Party Committee and People’s Council; continue promoting the local socio-economic infrastructure facilities towards more sustainable development.
Possibly speaking, the town’s recognition as a third-class city and completion of the new-style rural construction program in 2018 are the major foundation for the town to successfully realize targets, tasks set out by the local Party Committee for the 2015-2020 tenure.
