North Tan Uyen district yesterday held a ceremony to announce “North Tan Uyen orange” and “North Tan Uyen pomelo” collective brand names. Attending the event were Tran Van Nam, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly delegation; Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; Pham Xuan Da, Head of the Southern Bureau under the Ministry of Science and Technology; leaders of sectors, departments and localities in the province.

In recent years, the district has formed up many areas growing citrus fruit trees with high economic efficiency. The district has so far had a total of 2,000 hectares of citrus fruit trees. In 2015, the district’s People’s Committee implemented a project on developing North Tan Uyen orange, pomelo collective brand names. After two years of deploying the project, the Department of Intellectual Property under the Ministry of Science and Technology granted the certificates of collective brand names to various oranges and pomelos in the district on February 22, 2017.
Addressing the ceremony, Mr.Hung congratulated the district’s Party, government and farmers on this occasion while asking for the district to further build and carry out planning for a specialized area on growing citrus fruit trees; make investment in agricultural and traffic infrastructure systems; promote dissemination on agricultural support policies for farmers. The province also needs to actively realize projects on development support for citrus fruits; strengthen trade promotion activities, step by step bringing North Tan Uyen district’s fruit products to customers at home and abroad; actively popularize North Tan Uyen orange, pomelo collective brand names via the mass media in association with the local tourism development.
On this occasion, Saigon Co.op and Tan My fruit tree cooperative also signed a contract on citrus fruits consumption.
